This is really apples to oranges on who is better. I think compared to others at their position, Ovie is the best. But if I were building a team, I'd have to go with Crosby as my first pick.

Versus did not pick up this game. Neither did TSN out of Canada or CBC. Hard to believe that no "true" national media outlet (US or Canadian) is broadcasting this one.

Just some food for thought........Crosby can pass, take faceoffs, get back on defense, kill penalties, register a lot of assists and as of this year, he can score too. Crosby is second this year in goal scorong, two ahead of Ovechkin. There's no other player on this planet that's as complete a hockey player as Sidney Crosby. Ovechkin is two points ahead of Crosby in total points right now so it does even it's self out on scoring but comparing all around hockey skills and mind set, Ovechkin doesn't come close.

Ovechkin is some kind of talent but he's selfish. He never back checks and plays little to no defense at all. Would I like him on my team, sure, who wouldn't but I'd never take him over Sid.

I agree that Crosby is all around better, but you would expect that out of a center. That's why I say it's apples to oranges. As for the goal/point scoring, Ovie had an injury stint and has played 9 less games than Sid...Given the same number of games, Ovie would have about 4 more goals than Sid and around 11-15 more total points.

Sid is scoring more goals this season than he usually does. They were making a big deal early in the season how he was being more assertive in shooting the puck.

Bingo! Crosby is always looking to improve his game, just look at what he's done in regards to taking faceoffs. Sid realized he need to score more goals so low and behold, he's scoring more. I just don't see Ovechkin being that committed to his game.

The difference between a player who is great for a few years and one that is great for an extended period of time and ends up in the HOF is how the player improves on his weakness and expands his game.

Sid has worked tirelessly on his shot, it was always good but he is shooting more and is improved, and also on his faceoffs.

Im not goin to say much about Ovechkin...as I really dont see him play often (guess I dont see the pens much either but I still read up on them every day) so I dont know if he is expanding his game.

Crosby could be like Michael Jordan, and how MJ changed his game over the yeras. He was solely a slasher, then worked on his outside game, and also his turnaround J that is almost unstoppable in the NBA with the defensive rules. He was great, and expanded his game and I see Sid doing that. It is great to see he isnt just resting on his laurels.

About Ovechkin.....a year ago I saw an interview of him and he seemed extremely......arrogant about his off the ice stuff. Talks about driving fasta, living recklessly, etc etc etc and my first thought was if he keeps it up he may end up getitng himself into trouble off the ice. It was wierd how he described it...kinda like ya hear a rock star talk about their heyday with the women, fast cars and partying.

but I digress. I dont particularly like his showboatedness but man oh man can he flat out play.

Rock, you're a sneaky one. I was gonna do a GDT for this but you beat me to it ;)

Here's a video that'll get everyone pumped up:

Look at who Ovi has as linemates: Backstrom and Semin who are world class players. Then look at Crosby who plays with Kunitz/Dupuis and Guerin. Big difference right there.

I believe it's on the NHL Network. I hate Ovechkin.
  • rock_knutne
^^^^^Forgot about them, although it's like the NFL network, not available everywhere. I guess Versus isn't everywhere either, man the NHL needs to cut a deal with ESPN again.

It's on NHL Network tonight. I hate Versus and Ovechkin!

1-1. Crosby with his 33rd of the season, and Knuble gets the Craps goal.
  • rock_knutne
Anyone notice Ovechkin leave the Caps bench at the end of the period to talk shit (purposely ran in to Matt Cooke)? That should be a penalty, the visiting team has to wait until the home bench has cleared. FYI, the Igloo is the only rink in the league where the dressing rooms are on the opposite ends of the benches, it's a LONG standing house rule that the refs just let go.
  • David St. Hubbins
He doesn't know whether to cry or wind his watch!

    Pens 3-2

Second goal was Nick Johnson, I think he must have just been called up from Wilkes-Barre this week?

Correct. He's up here with Jefferey due to the injuries to Dupuis and Talbot.

    3-3 Now.

    Ovbitchkin with a PP goal.
  • End of Line
3-3 at the end of the 2nd.

Unrelated game, but anyone catch the end of the Blue Jackets game? Boston got called for a four minute high stick, but it wasn't even a Bruins player's stick. Led to a 3-2 PP goal with 1:19 left. Mason made a great save at the end of the game as well to not allow the tie.
  • rock_knutne
These refs need to get a clue, the last penalty called on guerin was complete bullshit, Ovechkin took a big time dive........and they talk about Crosby.
  • rock_knutne
Round one in the books and Ovechkin wins this time, 6-3.

Still doesn't change the fact that Ovechkin is a turd!

Kuntiz, Talbot, and Dupuis need to get healthy fast. The difference between the teams wingers was huge. Geno and Sid did all they could. Atleast Fedotenko decided to show up tonight.

Followed it on my phone. Looked at stats btween periods and the Pens were gettin beat badly on faceoffs but were ahead in hits. Id rather win more faceoffs than hits mostly.....
