Some Positive Donte Stallworth News

This afternoon, John Calipari held a telethon in Lexington, Kentucky to raise money for the earthquake victims in Haiti. He had numerous guests both in person and over the phone, and on top of that auctioned many other items on eBay with the proceeds going to the cause. These names included many college basketball coaches (Jim Boeheim, Rick Barnes, Tubby Smith), other celebrities (Ashley Judd, LeBron James, Dick Vitale) and some other notable figures. One of them was Donte Stallworth.

Stallworth said that he would donate $1.00 for each follower he had on his Twitter account by midnight tonight, and the word of the Big Blue Nation got out. As of midnight tonight, he has over 34,000 followers, and will donate over $34,000 dollars for the cause.

Calipari announced this event would occur on Friday night and after returned from a road game at Auburn late last night. His UK players were there answering the phones, and Calipari was busy all day hosting and promoting the event.

Anyway, I thought it was a very nice gesture by Donte Stallworth...and by so many others who have given their time and money. In 5 hours, Coach Cal and everyone involved raised over 1 million dollars.

Good stuff from Stallworth. Josh Cribbs just did the same tonight and is donating $17,000. Hard to think that Stallworth has 2x the amount of followers as Cribbs
