Cav's offering Z for David West

Cleveland's talent is just as good as the Lakers. Boston's talent is also just as good.devil1197 wrote: KR, yes there is and thats the Lakers who will still probably have better over talent than Cleveland.
Orlando and the Magic are also very close. Phoenix and Denver maybe just a tad behind.
Any one of these teams can wil it all.
Just like last year, it will be the team that plays better than their opponent over a 7 game series. -
hoops23I'd do this in a heartbeat..
Yes, NO said they wouldn't let West go, but that was also in the middle of a hot streak.. Now that they've dropped some games since, and maybe the realism of what's possible is starting to set in, including the fact that they are financially strapped and need to cut salary to get below the cap, they may be ready to let West go..
For the Cavs, this makes perfect sense. Trade Z (who would likely be bought out by the Hornets to cut cost right away) and a draft pick to get a stretch 4 who can take it out to about 20 feet and also finish around the rim...
However, I don't see it happening. I think the idea of getting Jamison is much more likely. -
sleeperI don't see this going down either.
Jamison is more likely because he has a high salary and is aging. -
wes_mantoothI don't wanna see any trades out of the Cavs unless it is for Rasual Butler or Sundiata Gaines.
-
se-alumHey, Butler had like 33 the other night.
-
hoops23Rasual Butler is actually a pretty solid player.. I still don't quite understand why NO let him go, as he was pretty good with them.

Most GMs tell Sam Smith that the most active team trying to deal has been the Cavs in offering Zydrunas Ilgauskas’ expiring contract of $11.5 million in trying to get another scorer.
Cleveland's most likely target will be Antawn Jamison. -
devil1197Yeah, Z understands that he will be sent out but I find it highly unlikely that Cleveland trades him without a buyout.
Many feel that Cleveland could end up with not just a trade but a robbery lol.
Windy tweeted that the Cavs are having alot of discussions with teams but nothing close yet. -
wes_mantoothAnyone reading anything from that insider on realcavfans...I think he goes by wineandgold?
-
devil1197
I haven't seen anything major from him, he is pretty damn solid though.wes_mantooth wrote: Anyone reading anything from that insider on realcavfans...I think he goes by wineandgold? -
hoops23Yeah he is..
The recent rumors have the Cavs calling Detroit to inquire about RIP and TayShaun..
Kevin Martin seems to be available from the Kings and the Cavs are said to have contacted them (though I doubt it's anything serious.)
Jamison remains a top priority..
As far as the Detroit thing, I'd like to have RIP. He's an instant upgrade over everyone and we still don't know what's going to happen with Delonte. RIP seems unmotivated in Detroit, but is still scoring 18PPG. He'd definitely be a nice option to fall back on next to Mo and LeBron.
No way do I want TayShaun though.. -
wes_mantoothI hate RIP. Other than Rondo, he is one of my least favorite players.
-
devil1197Honestly I think Cleveland may be trying to get two players instead of one.
Remember they still have Wally to S/T his contract and then Z's contract.
I know its highly unlikely to get two good players but Cleveland has some things to work with. -
se-alumI would much rather have Tayshaun than Rip.
-
Lovejoy1984For purely selfish reasons I'd love for the Cavs to get Kevin Martin, but that's probably not going to happen.
-
devil1197I really wouldn't want any of the old Detroit guys but as long as we don't give up anything major for them I wouldn't complain.
Right now I want:
1. Jamison
2. West -

Martin hasn't shown he can be healthy enough for me to want him on the Cavs. For purely selfish reasons I'd love for the Cavs to get Kevin Martin, but that's probably not going to happen. -

Two things I havent really heard/read until now...
1. First paragraph last sentence....That would be better than getting rid of Z and getting him back if this one were to happen. It would be better because in any Shaq deal they would get better players out of it (bigger salaries, better players-Ferry wouldnt go for the players who are way overvaulued in salary).Sources close to several of the Cavs' offers have said that basically the Cavs are offering the ending contract of Zydrunas Ilgauskas as the primary piece of a trade, under the belief that the acquiring team would then buy out and waive Big Z and he'd ultimately return to Cleveland after sitting out for 30 days. Shaquille O'Neal was also rumored to have been offered in a similar move.
Delonte West has been offered to at least one team, mainly because his contract is not guaranteed next season. West's 2010-2011 year is a team option and could not be waived and rejoin the Cavs – options kick in automatically when waived - but his $4.5 million ($500k guaranteed) 2010 salary would come of the books of the acquiring team, so he too is viewed as an ending deal.
2. West as an expiring contract. This could be of use to New Orleans. I dont think the Hornets are in as much of a need to get rid of money since they made a trade last week. It wasnt much but it was something.
Checked it and worked....West and James Posey for Z and Delonte...Get Z back from being waived. Really want to keep Delonte(as I do), sub in Boobie for this deal and it still works.
Havent seen this one either, where did you see this at? I like it.LTrain23 wrote: The recent rumors have the Cavs calling Detroit to inquire about RIP and TayShaun..

sportswizuhrd..Aaaaaand just I write that I see that the Hornets could move Ike Diogu, Sean Marks or Devin Brown to get under the luxury tax and do NOT want to trade Paul, West or Okafor. Right now, so much for that.
-
devil1197The Hornets have been saying that they didn't want to trade either Paul nor West which are their key parts.
Also, the Pistons rumor came from RCF.com. Windy reported that the Cavs will be calling the Pistons soon.
It comes down to Jamison being the #1 target right now and all others are below him. He brings exactly what Cleveland needs. Scoring, rebounding, solid veteran who has the smarts to understand the help defense rotations that Cleveland is known for.
He isn't a typical Wizards thug and he would be one of the only ones I'd want from that franchise. -
Lovejoy1984
I know this, however I still want him because I went to High School with him, and his brother and I'm pretty good friends with the family. Like I said purely selfish reasonsse-alum wrote:

Would love to have my 2nd favorite player on my favorite team. Although I realize he's not a good fit for the Cavs. -
2quik4uI haven't really payed attention to this but why would the bullets want to give up Jamison? He is a damn good player
-
Lovejoy1984Because the Bullets are blowing that team up, and they are grossly over the cap, also they are going no where this season, so it's time for them to trade off the pieces.
-
devil1197
Because their new ownership (hopefully Leonsis by Wednesday) is going to blow the team up and probably start over. The previous owner Pollin was dead set on getting the trio of Arenas, Butler, and Jamison to put the Wiz over the top. Injuries and the fact that they ran into Bron/Cleveland in the playoffs every year hasn't helped. He didn't want to trade either of the 3 guys at all.2quik4u wrote: I haven't really payed attention to this but why would the bullets want to give up Jamison? He is a damn good player
They are over the cap with players that are somewhat aging (Jamison) but will still be very valuable to teams like Cleveland who would only need Jamison for a short time to make a couple runs. -
KR1245Jamison is a perfect fit in my opinion. Opposing teams wouldnt be able to double down on Shaq or Lebron. Post up Shaq and surround him with shooters or post up Lebron and do the same thing. The Cavs havent had a PF that can stretch the floor since Boozer left, Gooden could knock down a few jumpers but it was nothing that you could rely on. I know that Jamisons defense it a little suspect but hes a HUGE upgrade over JJ Hickson. If they were able to pull this off and Z was bought out the Cavs would having the starting frontcourt from a team that won 66 games and went to the ECF's coming off the bench..........plus Leon Powe.
