LeBron to Change uniform to #6

  • devil1197
Really Bo, did you talk to LeBron about that guarantee? Is he telling you information that he has told NO ONE else about?

Last time I checked no contract had signed or even talked about.

I love people claiming to know LeBron's situation like its guaranteed, I think ESPN is willing to accept your application.

Actually I would love to work there lol. If you don't think Lebron will take the max you are CRAZY.

I am not saying anything outside my personal opinion that LeBron stays in Cleveland.
  • Society
There are going to be a lot of disappointed people in Cleveland next year.

What about all the clearly inferior guys wearing #23.

Like Jason Richardson and Marcus Camby?

If LeBron gives it up, these guys should too.

Just like nobody in the NHL wears 66 or 99.
  • wildcats20
Looks like Bron is for real with this.

Also who in the hell is letting BJ Mullens wear 23?!?!? That person should have their head checked.
  • wildcats20
From the article, players who wear 23
    Stephen Graham Bobcats
    C.J. Watson Warriors
    Marcus Camby Clippers
    Jodie Meeks Bucks
    Devin Brown Hornets
    Toney Douglas Knicks
    B.J. Mullens Thunder
    Lou Williams 76ers
    Jason Richardson Suns
    Martell Webster Trail Blazers
    Kevin Martin Kings
    Wes Matthews Jazz

There is no player on that list, outside of LBJ of course, that has any room to bitch about giving up their number.
  • wildcats20
J Rich, is the only one who I could see putting up a fight if the League would retire 23.
  • devil1197
    Already a thread my man
  • stroups
I think it should be the same thing in baseball when they retired Jackie Robinson's #. You can keep it if you are already wearing it but if you switch teams or your team doesn't have a player on the roster with the number then it should be retired.
  • devil1197
Dr J. is not even close to Jordan.

Jordan is the greatest player of all time at the moment and did so much for the game of basketball.

No doubt....we still have to watch the Browns next year.

Yes, because we will only have one superstar when most want two.

LeBron will get a 2nd tier star (Joe Johnson etc) for next year imo.
  • Trueblue23
If 23 is retired for Jordan, than you should have to also retire Russel and Wilt's numbers.
  • wildcats20
I was just about to say, the best 6 to ever play was Russell.

    What is?

Changing his number out of respect for the greatest basketball to have ever played the game is a dumbass reason? He said he thinks 23 should be retired throughout the League. It should be. He only wears the number because of MJ and now he wants to show his respect to him/the number by not wearing, I applaud him for it.
here's my beef with it...if you're changing it to coincide with your olympic number, then fine. but changing it to honor another player by not wearing that number seems dumb to me. what about russell and erving? they wore number 6, why not honor them by not wearing number 6? they were pretty good too
i'm also against retiring someone's jersey league wide just because they were "good." jordan's number should be retired in chicago and chicago alone. i, for one, do not want to see a red and black 23 hanging anywhere near the q rafters. what kind of message does that send to the late 80's/early 90's cavs teams that couldn't get past jordan in their pursuit of a championship? it'd be like, "sorry about your luck in not getting past jordan when you were playing...don't mind us while we retire jordan's bulls jersey and hang it in the rafters of your arena." (just imagine if mlb retired babe ruth's number league wide...how do you think people in boston or former red sox players would take to it?) doesn't make any sense. this is why jerseys should only be retired league wide if that person caused legitimate social change in their sport...i.e jackie robinson
  • wildcats20
    I can respect that.
  • Mr. 300
I really like the diversity that this Huddle is bringing in conversations. Devil is still a sniffer, which is cool and all, but also a lot of disenting views about this decision, as well as those that believe he will be gone after this year. I too have said all along that he's gone.

I for one would want the other greats to have their number retired before MJ's. Russell has so many rings he needs another hand.

Great post!!!.....which is weird because I didn't think you were capable of anything that wasn't shenanigans.

Want's to increase his Jersey sales I guess.
    Yes.
There are going to be a lot of disappointed people in Cleveland next year.
    Yes.

    Hey, Bron Bron, you wore the #23 in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, ...

Oh, I see, when Jordan came back to the Bulls and won scoring titles in '07 and '08, he finally solidified his spot as the greatest of all-time. Forgot about that. The move makes more sense now.

    Or this...

  • Upper90
JRich already said he would be down to change it.

I love Lou Williams, haha, I hope he's the only one that refuses, and starts a revolt.
  • hoops23
J Rich is forced to follow LeBron after LeBron claimed ownership of J Rich last year.

  • SQ_Crazies
People reading into this too much. Just like everything else surrounding LBJ. He'll still be in Cleveland next year. I like that he's changing to #6. Allows him to make his own legacy even better and gets out of the way of Jordan. And he's right, the NBA needs to do something to honor the greatest player that ever played. Like he said, you can't give him the logo, you have to do something.

Hell, if someone found out LeBron's toliet paper was made in Alaska there would be a rumor about him going there and starting his own NBA franchise in Juno.
  • sports_talk
LeBron is a goof. If he really thought that then why did he even take the number. There is no way that number should be retired in the NBA. That is fine if they want to do it for the Bulls. But for every team????? A number is just something to make sure they can keep track of stat during a game.

Don't get me wrong now. I am the biggest fan of Jordan and agree that he has been the best so far. But I will tell you Kobe is not far behind and I reall don't like the guy for personal reasons. So nobody shoud wear Kobe's number.

Come down to earth Lebron. Just like your free agent talk and now you don't want to talk about it. His team my a$$. I am so tired of hearing about it. Just wear your idles number and go on to New York next year. I wont miss you.

Sorry just venting on his new sense of modesty.
