AFC Wildcard: New York Jets at Cincinnati Bengals- INGAME THREAD

swamisezI think pouring lemon juice in an open cut would be fitting enough of a reminder to never put so much emotional investment in a Cincinnati sports franchise.
-
gerb131Schotzie should shit on midfield.
-
NonJets will give the Colts all they can handle
Shonn Greene has gone from good rookie to elite stud
they'll smash the ball on the ground at Indy
and I think the defense will hold their own -

A very weak AFC North...jordo212000 wrote:
They swept the AFC North. Not a fluke IMO. They'll be just fine. Just need to get healthy and add some more pieces.DaBrowns41 wrote: I think it's a fluke, and I never thought once that the Bengals were good enough to win in the playoffs.
The Browns suck (and they nearly lost that game). Pitt wasn't any good this year and had a lot of injuries.
The Ravens are solid, but they aren't a great team, but I'll give them those wins. -
Al CaponeThe one and done Bungals. LOL. Way to keep your streak alive! What is it up to now? 19 yrs. HaHaHa.

yeah... okay. Whatever buddy. Pittsburgh just missed the playoffs and the Ravens made it. Plus you had the Bengals. A very solid division IMODaBrowns41 wrote: A very weak AFC North...

What was the Browns record against the division in that 2007 season? By saying the Bengals had an "easy" schedule you are saying the AFC North was pathetic, because against the AFC, outside the AFC north, the Bengals were 1-6. And that could well be true! And what does that say about the Browns who went 1-5 against the AFC North!DaBrowns41 wrote:
This is a LOT like the Browns season in 2007 in which we played the easiest schedule. You guys played a very easy schedule, and couldn't beat the good football teams, much like we did in 2007.JoeA1010 wrote: I watched every Bengals game this season, and I'm a Bengals fan, but I'm wondering whether this season was a fluke. This team needs to get a lot better on the offensive line, at QB and WR. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they lapse back into a 6-10 type of team that gets Lewis fired during next season.

Were you trying to make a cheap shot at a team that I already know sucks? Lol. -
Al CaponeThe Rooneys are nice enough to let someone else win the division for a change and this is what happens. It wont happen next season.
-
gerb131Don't give me the fluke bs. I can take knowing that Hines and Ben were at home. It sucks but thats the way it goes. Ah the life of a Bengal fan.

What impressive wins did you have? Green Bay.jordo212000 wrote:

You lost to the Raiders, had an overtime game against the Browns, got absolutely crushed by the Vikings, and got beat by the Jets twice.
Green Bay was the only win that really showed us anything and that was at the beginning of the season. They'd lose big time if they played GB now with their offensive line finally playing great.
Sure they beat the 9-7 Ravens and the 9-7 Steelers. What about the 9-7 Texans? What about the Chargers? What about the Vikings?
Just like in 2007 when the Browns beat most of the bad teams on the schedule and only had beat maybe 4 teams with a winning record out of their 10 wins.
We'll find out, and maybe I'm wrong, but sweeping a division that is clearly down, isn't that big of a feat. -

But the Browns were 4-2 vs. the rest of the AFC. The Bengals won the big games early, going 6-0 in the division which they mostly played early in the season. The Bengals had those six important games, and then two other important ones late in the season when they were decimated by injuries, one the heartbreaking loss at SD when they were playing for the inside track on the first round bye in the playoffs, and then today.DaBrowns41 wrote:

eersandbeersBengals need a WR and a QB in this draft. Those need to be the first two picks, because this team drastically needs someone to help Benson.
Palmer is done. He is a mediocre quarterback who was carried this whole season by Benson. -
NonThey should draft a QB.
Palmer still probably has a few more if they can get some better receivers.
But still draft a young QB and get him ready. -
NonNot in the first round, maybe 3rd or 4th
-
gerb131Give Palmer one more year he deserves that, their are 18 qb's who aren't as good as he is. Granted his yards per pass is horrid but he hasn't been putrid.
Bengals will be fine. -
RiverRat13A rookie QB next year would mean 5-11. Gotta try to get Carson weapons and see if he still decent with good talent around him in the passing game.
-
eersandbeersThis game proved Palmer doesn't have it. WR's would help, but when you overthrow every single one it doesn't matter who you have.
He has the 16th best QB rating. That is the definition of mediocre. -

What big games early? The only big game you guys won was against the Packers, and that was in week 2. A mediocre Denver team doesn't count as a big game, neither do victories over Pittsburgh. I'll give you Baltimore because Baltimore is solid.mhs95_06 wrote: But the Browns were 4-2 vs. the rest of the AFC. Injuries are a part of the game. But Carson Palmer was a bigger issue than injuries. -

I agree that Palmer is on the downside of his career, but by a new QB gets ready, Benson will be on the downside too.eersandbeers wrote: Bengals need a WR and a QB in this draft. Those need to be the first two picks, because this team drastically needs someone to help Benson.

NonI think they're better off with Palmer for at least another year.
Draft WR and TE in the first two rounds.
Then go QB in the mid rounds. Somebody that might be an option but isn't brought in to play next year. -
eersandbeers
Benson has only been in the league since 2005. Developing a QB for a couple of years and Benson will still be fine.mhs95_06 wrote: I agree that Palmer is on the downside of his career, but by a new QB gets ready, Benson will be on the downside too.

I can agree with that. I think its a given Palmer will get at least another year. I just see no problem with drafting a really good QB to get him ready. -
jordo212000The Bengals aren't drafting a QB haha (at least in the first few rounds). There's about $100 million reasons why.
They made the playoffs. They're going to be fine. Get some more depth and get another WR and all will be fine -
NonThey need an athletic tight end. Gresham or Anthony Davis or one of those guys.
Maybe even Dorin Dickerson from Pitt. Or Moeaki.
There are some good ones in this draft.
Palmer is throwing to smurfs right now.
