Young pitcher, who was frankly, too good to hone his craft in the minors. I'm not going to sit hear and make excuses for him on his past mistakes, but at the same time Kluber and Carrasco weren't even in the majors at his age.Verbal Kint;1867742 wrote:High ceiling, low floor. Reminder his ERA is near 5.
He also has better metrics and advanced stats than ERA would suggest. He has been an "unlucky" pitcher for few years. Some of that is bad pitches in bad locations, some of it is that he hasn't learned to pitch in a pinch, and get out of trouble. But, some of it is also...bad luck.
I hope he has learned to pitch as the season has progressed, because stuff wise, he is a top 2 rotation guy in he majors. I'd also say Mickey has done wonders since ASG. The amount of curves he is throwing, coupled with the lack of 2-seamers has revitalized the season for Bauer. -

After watching Salazar's performance so far today, Bauer has to be considered our #3 after Klubot & CookieHitsRus;1867740 wrote:Ballgame!.. another shutout.
Bauer showing why he's projected to be a top of the rotation pitcher. -

Based on this snap judgement, you've had Carrasco as our 6th starter at least 5 times this year and wanted Kluber demoted in April?vball10set;1867776 wrote:After watching Salazar's performance so far today, Bauer has to be considered our #3 after Klubot & Cookie -
vball10setZMac comes in to relieve a struggling Salazar (12 hits, 4 runs) and promptly gives up a two run single...again

Snap judgement? I gave my opinion based on recent performances, that is all. Also, since you seem to be privy to all of my posts since April (which doesn't surprise me), please show me the 'at least 5 times' I've had Carrasco as our 6th starter...thank you.Laley23;1867783 wrote:Based on this snap judgement, you've had Carrasco as our 6th starter at least 5 times this year and wanted Kluber demoted in April? -

I just find it funny that Bauer is now your #3. You overreact to every freaking inning. Earlier this year Bauer was awful to you. This game aside, Salazar has been better than Bauer since coming off the DL, in every category. So, because the Royals had some good swings, it's now clear he won't be our 3rd beat pitcher? Will Salazar leapfrog Bauer in 5 days if he goes 7.2IP with 11K, 2BB and 1 ER next outing?vball10set;1867785 wrote:Snap judgement? I gave my opinion based on recent performances, that is all. The Carrasco comment was tongue in cheek. He has been god awful in some outings, so I made the joke you probably wanted him demoted after them, since you overreact to every game and outing. -

lol--oh, the irony...To answer your question, yes. Salazar can leapfrog Bauer, and visa versa--and I don't see any problem with that...do you?Laley23;1867836 wrote:I just find it funny that Bauer is now your #3. Verbal KintI trust Salazar more than I trust Bauer, I think Salazar has been better all year and post ASG. Salazar is my #3.
I don't recall due to injuries and drones, did the Tribe pitch 3 or 4 starters in the ALDS? -

Indians won the ALDS in three games, so I find it very unlikely they would have needed four starters.Verbal Kint;1867850 wrote:I trust Salazar more than I trust Bauer, I think Salazar has been better all year and post ASG. Salazar is my #3.

ALCS, Kluber started two, Tomlin one, Merritt one, and the Bauer game with the bloody finger. -

Ah, thanks, that is why there is no real sense of needing 3 or 4 starters in my head.GOONx19;1867866 wrote:Indians won the ALDS in three games, so I find it very unlikely they would have needed four starters.

I'm just going to go out on a limb and say it probably would have helped for the World Series last year...Verbal Kint;1867905 wrote:Ah, thanks, that is why there is no real sense of needing 3 or 4 starters in my head. -
