Tribe Pitching 2017

  • Sonofanump
Wanted to separate this out from series threads for opinions.

Tomlin has the worst fourth worst ERA and worst BA of the qualified 85 starting pitchers over the last month. That there is only 85 pitcher that qualify (should be between 135-150) says how much starting pitching is out there. So who do you want to trade for Sonny Gray (who has an ERA over 4) to replace Tomlin in the rotation, or wait for Salazar? Think anyone wants Naquin? He is now permanently blocked by gold glove Zimmer.

    Kluber- Player of the month
    Carrasco- 12-3 in his starts

Bauer- Never know pitch to pitch, I guess third best starter.
Clevinger- Keep him up, 3 1/2 ERA during his starts.
Salazar- Should start rehab soon. Starter or bullpen?

Allen- Despite what we see everyday, he is 11th in closer ERA. 18th in BA.
Miller- Usually inhuman, but given up 7 earned runs this year. Seen 9th inning a few times.

Shaw- Heartburn with good Shaw or Bad Shaw
McA, Logan, Otero, Goody- Should have no complaints.

I'm a firm believer in Salazr being a starter, and should have been used more in the playoffs last season.

Do not think Tribe needs to make a move. If they can find someone for nothing, go for it. But I'm not worried about Bauer at all and Tomlin who gives a fuck? Gonna be long man in playoffs anyway the way it stands.

He is basically the same as (insert any injury prone nba/football player you hate). Would love for him to pitch, but not counting on him.

Salazar is un-hitable when he is on and has control. If they are oing to count on him for the playoffs they can't get him back soon enough so he can work on his command...and his confidence.

I'm going to use this thread to say that the acquisition of Andrew Miller was one of the greatest in Tribe history.

I mean, this just kinda furthers my point that you guys are way overreacting to the pitching (and hitting).
    Offense
    2017: .258/.334/.434 slash, 390 runs scored
    2016: .258/.320/.430 slash, 390 runs scored

    Pitching:
    2017: 44-37, 3.88 ERA, 8.1 H/9, 1.2 HR/9, 2.9 BB/9, 10.0 K/9
    2016: 49-32, 3.58 ERA, 7.9 H/9, 1.1 HR/9, 2.9 BB/9, 8.5 K/9

The ERA, which is 3/10 higher this year is even worse if you think about how much lower it is with Kluber's 6 starts in June at 1.26 ERA.

Ok? It's a large sample size. Last year you had Salazar basically leading the league in ERA on pace to start ASG at this point. So, take that away and this years is better. You could play that game all day.

Don't care if they make any moves. I'm not worried about the pitching. Go Tribe.

Good point. We know Kluber and Carrasco could carry the Trjbe to the central title. We know that only 3/4 starters needed in the postseason. A healthy Salazar at #3 and feast or famine Bauer at #4 would be ideal. Clevinger has earned the backend rotation spot for the regular season as far as I am concerned. I think it's a sellers market for the few decent starters this trade deadline, Oakland may get a top 30 prospect for Gray, and unless someone sees Naquin as an answer, then I see the Trjbe staying put. I had a feeling that the big splash this year was eggs in one basket with EE and didn't think a trade deadline deal with occur.
