Kansas City, Here we come!....Tribe @ Royals

  • HitsRus
After taking 3 out of 4 from Oakland, the Indians head to KC to take on the Royals in a weekend series.

Josh Tomlin(3-6, 5.79) and Jason Vargas(6-3, 2.39) hook up in the opener Friday night.
While the edge in this matchup would seem to be with the Royals, Josh Tomlin has a pretty solid track record of dominating KC over the past 2 seasons, including a 1.13 ERA and a complete game against them in two starts this year.
It would be nice to get the first one in this 3 game set.

Don't like facing a lefty on Sunday. Gotta get the first 2. Go Tribe!

Tomlin dealing again, shutting out the Royals and holding them to 2 hits after 5... only problem is that the Tribe is runless also despite having a hit in every inning.
  • Sonofanump
Tomlin went from dealing, to weak singles, to hard hit balls real quick last night. Looked like an all-star for the first 6 innings, that run in the 6th was soft.

Tomlin pitched good enough to win, but you can't win if you don't score... 4 DPs killed rallies and allowed Vargas to stay in the game.

I hope we never see a soft tossing lefty the rest of the year.
  • BRF
Tomlin very nearly got the old 8 inning CG.

Seems like it's feast or famine with this team...score more than 6 or less than 2.

I keep seeing people online saying "No need to worry, this is the same exact record they had last year!!!!!" No, this is not the same team as last year. Pitching is bad, and hitting is bad. I don't see a 14-game winning streak in this team's future either. The only saving grace is that the AL Central is the 2nd worst division in baseball and they're only a game back.

AL Central is not good, 538 still predicts 88 wins with Detriot coming in second with 81 wins:

Not worried. At this point in the year, an average record is all that matters. There are 4 full months left to work out pitching and hitting kinks. In that regard, even if both those areas were rolling full steam I wouldn't be confident, because 4 months is plenty of time to develop new bad habits. The first half of the year means nothing.
