World Cup 2026 - Back in USA
-
slingshot4everFIFA voted to fast track the bidding process for 2026 World Cup. USA/Mexico/Canada already agreed to going in together on a joint bid representing CONCACAF. Of the 80 matches, 10 to the South, 10 to the North, the other 60 with USA. Quarterfinals and on would all be in the USA.
Fast tracking gives other nations only until August to put in bids and begin to prove infrastructure capabilities, etc. for hosting.
I do not see anyway this joint bid doesn't win out over anything else presented, especially given how long it is been for CONCACAF to be awarded the World Cup (1994), stadiums already built, etc. -

How tough is it to draw up a plan that can't be executed and back it with massive bribery?slingshot4ever;1852551 wrote:

SportsAndLadyLet's see if a UAE country offers to buy the FIFA exec's a new yacht before we say this is a lock.

HereticSo, what lucky places will get to bankrupt themselves in order to build new facilities and accommodations so the uber-rich FIFA c*nts can have the comfort they desire?
-
like_thatYeah, it should never be considered a "lock" with FIFA and their corruption. FIFA and the IOC are amongst the most corrupt organizations in the world. The majority of any international sports governing bodies are corrupt as hell.
Anyway, am I the only one that thinks Canada can go fuck themselves on this joint bid? The USMNT and Mexico at least have a history of making the world cup and are normally always the top 2 teams in the CONCACAF. Canada has made the WC one and they finished 24th out of 24 teams. They can't even make it to the Hexagon (final group) for CONCACAF WC Qualification. It's fucking ridiculous FIFA gives these shit national teams an automatic bid to the WC. In 2022 Qatar will steal a spot from a deserving team, and in 2026 Canada will most likely steal a spot from a deserving team. -
Laley23Not sure you can say steal a spot anymore. If you can't qualify with 48 teams, fuck off.

Is that officially happening now? I thought the idea was just being thrown around still. Even with 48 teams, I don't think Canada could qualify. They are not very good (currently ranked below 100 I believe).Laley23;1852578 wrote:Not sure you can say steal a spot anymore. If you can't qualify with 48 teams, fuck off. -
slingshot4everI do think that 48 team thing is officially based on there now being 80 matches being anticipated

Yes, it's official. And while they may not qualify (though Concacaf got an insane amount of teams, ratio wise) no other team can bitch when 48 make it. It's like the bubble teams in men's basketball. 30+ at large teams make it...how about win a few more games.like_that;1852583 wrote:Is that officially happening now?
