I find myself watching the semis between USA and japan tonight...anyone else watching?
  • Ironman92
Yeah. The Puerto Rico team is a blast to watch. Their IF is insane. Correa at 3rd (and looking gold glove like), Lindor at SS, Baez at 2nd....Yadi catching. They are tough

As for this game....the Japan pitcher looks legit. I won't be surprised if USA loses

Watching as well. Raining in LA. Do they even have a tarp?
  • Ironman92
Had to bring one in. Last rainout was 17 years ago

USA moving on to finals Wednesday night. Never been in the WBC finals before.

I watched, couldn't turn away. I hate that they continue to cater to the West coast and these big games always start at 9 and run past midnight....I'm dog tired today.

Big win. It's ridiculous that this is the 4th WBC and our first finals though. We have the most baseball talent in the world, hands down. If they would all come out and play, we would likely breeze through this.

If they did the WBC after the MLB season, I think we would see better participation, except maybe the players in the postseason. Doing it during spring training is just not ideal for most major leaguers.

I've heard that argument, but I don't agree with it. Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, a lot of Canada, Mexico, Italy, Netherlands....they're all stacked full of MLB star power. You don't see the best PRs, DRs & Venezuelans skipping. Just the Americans. We simply don't care. We have the least amount of national pride as evident by our rosters and by how our country has supported this (compared to the other countries). I get that the MLB pays your salary and if you're hurt you're not helping them. But still...I think most of them would rather win a World Series then even an Olympic Medal (which baseball is back in in 2020). I don't get that. I'd rather win an Olympic Medal or a WBC title...be the best in the world, not just MLB. Just me though. /rant

I'd much rather win a WS than a WBC. Not even close. Being the best in the world means winning the best league in the world. Not winning a watered down tournament with 4 legit countries. You think LeBron is the best in the world cause he won some Gold Medals, or because he has 3 NBA Championships and some MVPs?? Olympics or competitions like them only serve to find the best in the world in sports that don't have a top tier, clear cut, league.

And we don't have the most talent in the world, hands down. Puerto Rick and Dominican Republic both rival the USA in MLB talent.

Yeah, I definitely rather win a WS than a gold medal.

Is the final game going to be online anywhere or will I need MLB Network to watch it?

    I got it.

Another question, am I an idiot for not seeing the English broadcast, or is it only available in Spanish through ESPN?

John Smoltz does a wonderful job but he speaks us.

Not a good feeling about Stroman
  • justincredible
Looks like the English broadcast is only on MLB Network. I'll just learn some Spanish while I watch.

I have no idea. I just saw it on the cable guide. Didn't look at the info.
  • Ironman92

Yelich is a goofy looking dude, but that was a nifty little piece of hitting and nice hustle to leg out a double.
