Really? I mean...yea...not his best but he's been pretty awesome. POS seems a bit harsh.

Back at it tomorrow. Get that one out of his system. Rather see a blown save in August than October.

Yeah, 3 in 26 is only surpassed by 6 closers this year.

actually, some of the blame has to go to Tito--you could tell Allen just didn't have it last night, especially after Anderson's at bat...you have to recognize that and go back to the pen...jmo

The only other person with closer experience is miller, and I'm pretty sure he was unavailable last night since he's been pitching a lot lately. It just shows Tito has confidence in Allen to get out of that situation and Allen just didn't get it done. But Allen has been a stud all year.

I love it. You live and die with every game. But baseball would be boring if everybody did their job all the time. You just gotta hope yours guys do their job more than the other guys and hang on for the 162 game ride.

Allen will be fine. He'll learn from it and it'll help him remember that even though he has great stuff...he still needs to come out focused every night to get it done vs big league hitters.

Actually, I thought Allen had pretty good stuff and was victimized by a couple of cheap hits(3).....which of course are part of the game. Getting one cheapie isn't too bad, and a good pitcher can usually pitch around it. But each one prolongs an inning, and the more pitches that are thrown, the greater the chance that a mistake will be made. Allen had 3 cheap hits against him...and he made 2 mistakes...mistakes that the White Sox did not let him get a way with.

Miller looked so good the nite before, the casual observer would think that he is better than Allen based on those two performances the past 2 nights. But, Miller reaped the benefits of two fantastic plays by the left side of the infield ( one "cheap hit" was overturned on replay)...plays that didn't get made the next night in Allen's behalf.

I don't think the hits were cheap, as both time the fielder (Kipnis & Lindor) made great plays to even get to the ball. Allen (by his own admission), didn't have it, as he couldn't throw his best pitch for a strike...it happens, but he certainly has had better days.
  • HitsRus
We may have to agree to disagree about the definition of "cheap hit" but slow choppers that find a hole between fielders or pop ups off the end of the bat are not well struck balls. They are the result of the hitter managing to get some wood on a tough pitch to hit. They are ever bit a part of the game as "loud outs" are, and they have to be managed and dealt with by pitchers who claim to be in the upper eschelon. Allen had to deal with 3 of those kinds of hits in the same inning. Conversely, the night before, those same type of batted balls and similar plays were turned into outs by the defense, and Miller didn't have to deal with the baserunners or make extra pitches. So, save for the fatal pitch to Eaton, it's not like the ChiSox were knocking Allen all over the yard.

Cody Allen is a stand up guy who came out to face the media after a gut punch loss. He didn't whine, he just came out and told it like it was. Sure he has had better days...but 80% of the time a pitcher doesn't have everything working perfectly. There have been plenty of times that he went out with worse stuff and still got 3 outs, 1-2-3. On Tuesday, Lindo makes a great play and throws a guy out from deep in the hole....on Wednesday he throws it into the dugout....is that on the pitcher?

Looks like Salazar doesn't want BRF to start the next thread.
  • iclfan2
Ugh this hasn't started well. Why didn't they give him a real rehab start?
  • Laley23
Hindsight, but Salazar should've made a rehab start. I'm always a fan of a rehab when you're out an extended period.
  • cat_lover
They took him out after one inning and now he is throwing in the bullpen to get his work in. I agree with the previous posts about a rehab start.
  • vball10set
Again, Salazar's starting is Tito's call...tough couple of games for our HC
  • HitsRus
