Rays @ Tribe- Series Thread

TBone14Strange morning. Cavs win and what a night it was for Cleveland and all the fans who have waited for a celebration like that for decades. For some reason, I wasn't into it. I haven't been able to get back into the Cavs since Lebron left. I mean, I root for them but I rarely watch a regular season game. When I say I wasn't into it...I mean that I don't feel any different today but I was on the edge of my seat last night...pacing...I wanted that win. But I had only 1 urge to go to Cleveland yesterday...we were all over at my dad's yesterday for Father's Day and at about 4:30 it hit me...what am I doing here? I need to be in Cleveland for this. I told my brother in law...get out of the pool and let's hit the road. Our wives quickly squashed that with the, "You've been drinking since noon and we aren't going to drive you...etc" argument and it was settled. Not going to Cleveland. And I was fine with it 5 minutes later and by tip off I was content to be watching from the comfort of home. That would never happen with the Indians. The Indians have a clinching game...home or away in the World Series and I'll be in Cleveland...somewhere. In the stadium...in a bar...somewhere. So I'm struggling with it. I've always been a Cavs fan and I love basketball. My parents had season tickets at the Coliseum, I grew up wearing Mark Price and Tyrone Hill jerseys. I thought Bobby Sura was going to be an all star for years. But after LeBron left...I didn't watch an NBA game (other than Heat/Cavs and a few playoff games) for the next few years. It just wasn't the same and then he came back but I haven't been into it the same. But what a night and definitely a night we all deserved.
I just hope the Indians can give us something like that soon (because the Browns aren't).
The Tribe are in 1st place, up a slim half game over the Royals as both teams completed sweeps over division rivals over the weekend. Interesting stat to note: The Indians have a +53 run differential. The Royals are -1. The Red Sox are +83 and the Mariners are +54...putting the Tribe 3rd in the AL.
The Rays are in last place in the East but just 5 games under .500 and losers of 4 straight. The AL East is a very competitive division but these are games we need to win at home vs sub .500 teams.

First the Lake Erie Monsters, then a few days later the Cavs, and in a few months the Indians and in a couple short years...the browns.TBone14;1800818 wrote:Strange morning. Good time to be a Cleveland fan... -
TBone14Too much partying for the Tribe last night. Barely into the 2nd inning, 2 errors, a home run allowed, an unearned run and another jam.
2-0 Rays.

Laley23This seems like a game to lose. Smyly is tough, and Tomlin is due for a loss. Be nice to grab 2/3 with Kluber and Bauer going the next 2.

TBone14Tomlin hasn't been bad nor great. He's been ok...allowing 4 runs, 3 earned thru 7. The Tribe offense has battled and it's tied at 4 in the 8th.
Shaw into the game. Jesus take the wheel.

TBone14Shaw burns through the side. Top of the order mowed down. Struck out the side.
Let's get a couple here.

Man crush. Do they still do lifetime contracts? He's my shortstop for as long as he chooses to play baseball.iclfan2;1800916 wrote:Lindor! 5-4 Tribe

TBone14Allen 1-2-3 for save.
Nice of the offense to bail out a starter who wasn't great but Tomlin kept them in the game.
Shaw will get the win and he looked good tonight.

Benny The JetJust got a notification from Bleacher Report that the Tribe is telling people they have money to spend at the deadline. Indians buyers?!? What a time to be alive in Cleveland!

Need to stay hot up until the deadline...if they are in 1st place in the middle of July still I think we will buy.Benny The Jet;1801040 wrote:Just got a notification from Bleacher Report that the Tribe is telling people they have money to spend at the deadline. Brantley update- Not great.
Brantley update: After continued discomfort, he was re-examined, received a cortisone shot and is dealing with R biceps tendon tendinitis. -

TBone14Kluber goes the distance. 3 hits (2 in the 9th) and 2 walks. 9 strikeouts. He battled some command issues early but was excellent.

iclfan2Man, our offense is on fire. Kipnis was a lucky score at the beginning, but Ramirez and Uribe add insult to injury in the 8th with homers.

HitsRusKluber is back to form....took a 1 hit shutout into the ninth. In addition to the stats TBone posted, Kluber sawed off at least 4 bats with pitches running in on the hands.
One thing that caught my eye today and how the game has changed. The Indians ( a first place team) fielded a starting lineup with 4 hitters batting .230 or less.... the Rays had 7 hitters batting under .230. In the old days, guys who hit that were utility players.
