Any list that has Tim Duncan as the #2 pick for MVP is useless.

    Keep trying though sportswizard.
Are you serious? Duncan has to be in the discussion. So does Dirk. There is no clear cut favorite for the MVP right now. I'll tell you who it isn't though--and that's Kobe. He shouldn't even be in the discussion IMO.
    Why am I not surprised
I don't think anyone is surprised anymore by sq-crazies and his "unbiased" opinions.
Duncan and Dirk are candidates and Kobe is not. LMAO!!!!!!!!!

    Why should he be?

Get over it, there is no blind hatred for Kobe here. In fact, I like Kobe. Just because I hate fans of his (mainly because they're idiotic, blind fans) doesn't mean I hate the player. I also do not really give a damn if he wins an MVP--I won't get all upset because Kobe wins and LeBron doesn't, regardless of what you may think, I really don't give a fuck. But there is absolutely NO reason that Kobe should be in the MVP talk right now if you as me. Why am I not surprised that I haven't heard a good argument yet--other than he's the best player on one of the best teams. Which is a weak ass argument--especially when you consider what happened last night.

Um...Kobe plays on one of the most loaded rosters in the history of the NBA. It's like an All-Star team. He shit a brick last night and they dominated. Did you see what happened to the Cavs last night? LeBron scores 31 in the 1st half and they're up big--they go away from him in the 3rd and the gap closes. In 2 of the last 5 games Kobe has scored 15 or less and his team DOMINATED. How are you the most valuable player in the league when your team is more loaded than any other roster in the entire league.

Guys like LeBron, Dirk, Duncan (so far this year), they carry their teams. Kobe is the best player on the team, it is HIS team as opposed to the Shaq days, but they'd still be damn good without him. Very rarely does he have to carry them to a victory. Guys like LeBron, Dirk and Duncan are relied on so heavily night in and night out because they aren't surrounded by the same kind of team Kobe is.

Stats are part of it, but there is more to it than just that.

And I love how you say I'm bias, yet you start a thread saying there is no doubt who the MVP is and then when others have opinions you call their list bogus...incredible. And the only argument you've even made is a video of some guy commentating on a handful of plays. What makes him more qualified than the guy that made the "useless" list?

"Very rarely does he have to carry them to a victory."

Yeah 3 buzzer beaters in 1 season happens all the time.

" Um...Kobe plays on one of the most loaded rosters in the history of the NBA."

Do you really believe the stuff you type?

the Lakers have 1 of the worst benches in the NBA.
  • 2quik4u
Remember that the Mvp award has recently gone to the best player on the best team thats why Kobe would automatically be in the discussion. The Lakers have the best starting five in the league but there bench sucks Odom has only recently turned it on but guess what he is starting right now. There is a reason that Kobe plays the exact same minutes as Lebron because the bench is so bad that they have to keep him in longer. Also I remember Kobe hitting three game winners this past so much for very rarely carrying them to a victory.
  • SQ_Crazies
A buzzer beater is more like saving your team, not carrying your team.

I don't know why I even came on this thread--you guys are the stupidest mother fuckers around. It's hilarious, you are what you try to say everyone else is....ALWAYS.

"A buzzer beater is more like saving your team, not carrying your team."

Leads the best team in the NBA:

    Points per game
    assists per game
    steals per game
    Minutes played
    3rd in FT%
    3rd in FG%
    4th in Rebounds per game

Pretty much identical to what Lebron leads his team in yet Kobe isn't even a candidate for MVP??????????? and were the "stupid" ones?

I won't bother copying your usual potty mouth cuss word rants that we all have become familiar with.

Kobe's torrid shooting comtinues to pace Lakers. This guy is awesome.

Kobe's been struggling shooting because his fingers are absolutely killing him right now. It's to the point a good portion of his shots are left-handed.

One of the more loaded rosters in the history of the NBA? Agreed with Skyhook; not even close, and if one saw our bench, you wouldn't come to that conclusion.

If that is truly the case, shouldn't Phil shut him down until he is healed up? I mean they are a veteran team and talented enough to float along without him for a bit.

All you need to do is watch either the Cavs or Lakers without LeBron or Kobe respectively and you'll soon realize who is most valuable. Kobe may be on a team with one of the worst benches in the NBA, but LeBron has been both this year and years pasts with one of the worst supporting casts in the NBA. I'm not a serious NBA follower but I watch Cavs games and how can you feel confident when anyone else but LeBron has the ball?

I love how this "broken finger" is becoming an excuse.. My god...
  • JakeGiant
Sorry, but I think it's a legit excuse. He keeps getting hacked on it to the point it's now greatly affecting him.

    Maybe he should sit?

Why? He played with a similiar injury last year and he led them all the way to the Championship. 70% Kobe is better than 99% of the other NBA players and you can take that to the bank...........

Then quit using the finger as an excuse for poor performance, seems pretty simple.

when you are injured and it's affecting your production, you sit. Simple as that, Kobe isn't a god with magical healing powers.

I never said it was an excuse. I am perfectly fine with Kobe playing with an injury and will take the good with the bad. The rest of the League would love to see Kobe sit but he has played through injury before and will and can do it again. I could care less if Kobe goes 4-21 or 21-21. Just win Baby and Kobe and the lakers have been doing a lot of that.
  • ytownfootball
I'd be fine with it too, there are others who want to throw the finger out as reason/cause though. I would probably cut his minutes as best I could, but I agree about the bench. How those minutes would be used is a hard bet. Not privy to team doctor news as to the progress of the injury is going makes it a tough call. If continued play is slowing the recovery, I'd yank and sit, take the losses now rather than down the stretch while I had a cushion.
