Browns, Chargers and Pete Carroll's Vindication.
-
FootwedgeLast Sunday, the Chargers had the ball first and goal at the one up 1 point with about 5 mins to play. After a plow into the line was stone walled for no gain, Rivers play actioned and dumped the ball over the line to a wide open receiver...6 points. A few moments later, Barnidge makes a circus catch giving the Browns a first and goal at the 1 foot line. On first down, the obligatory plop into the line lost a yard (what a shock) and on second and goal. McCown play actioned and dumped the ball to a wide open receiver...6 points.
Yet all the ass clowns were calling it "the worst play call in the history of the NFL" last year when Carroll opted to do the same thing in the Super Bowl. The typical "know it alls" from that game included Stupid and Ladies, LHShemp, Lunatic, and Al Bunghole...to name just a few.
Funny,,,not a peep out of them after last week's game. LOL. -
friendfromlowryThe term "HoF worthy thread" gets tossed around a lot, but this thread is a legitimate candidate. It's 3am and Footwedge is like "Oh yeah I forgot to make that thread comparing the Browns - Chargers game to last years Super Bowl."
It'd make more sense to me that someone was just making this thread to troll, and that they weren't actually that dumb. -

Laley23Those scenarios aren't even the same...Seattle was 1st and goal from 5, and gained 4.5 yards on first down. They needed to get stuffed on 2nd down for your scenario to have any relevance as a comparison. Not to mention, at he end of the game, it's much different, as the defense is playing for every scenario, and are mindful of a team possibly throwing since time (and timeouts) are limited.
-
Al BundyI'm sure Pete Carroll sleeps better at night knowing that two of worst teams in the NFL scored on each other in what will most likely turn out to be a meaningless game in the big picture of things. Not to mention, they were completely different plays compared to Carroll's high risk play.

And it wasn't like New England was exactly "shutting down" Lynch either. It was a boneheaded call. There's a difference between trying to catch a team off guard with a pass versus HAVING to throw a pass because your O-Line sucks so bad you can't punch it in from the 1 (see Browns).Laley23;1756036 wrote:Those scenarios aren't even the same...Seattle was 1st and goal from 5, and gained 4.5 yards on first down. lhslep134This thread is an incredible tribute to how dumb FW is.
FW, I know you're averse to numbers and have absolutely no clue how they work, but I'm going to just leave these here anyways.

Tiernan should be happy that he's not the only person to drunkenly jump on his computer in the wee hours because he got an "I am so s-m-r-t" moment that wound up falling really flat in actual execution.friendfromlowry;1756030 wrote:The term "HoF worthy thread" gets tossed around a lot, but this thread is a legitimate candidate. So, kudos, Foot, kudos. You've hit a new low. Please go all-in by yammering about how some random talk radio doofus that no one else respects backs you up on this. We need more entertainment. -
TiernanThere you go again Heretic...being so fixated with your man crush on me that you can't even go one post without mentioning me. To be honest dude it's getting a little creepy.

Yeah you were part of the "worst call in the history of the NFL" crowd. Second and goal from the one is second and goal on the one regardless of what the distance was on first down. Are you inferring that gaining 4 yards on first down from the 5 has relevance? It means nothing. When the ball is on the one, the meatballs are inserted. That is why play action works a lot more often than the line plunge.Laley23;1756036 wrote:Those scenarios aren't even the same...Seattle was 1st and goal from 5, and gained 4.5 yards on first down. Lunatic...nobody gives a shit about your FW musings of prose here. Why is it that you never...I do mean never...comment on the substance of my threads? You truly are a feeble minded sports fan. friendfromlowryShit Heretic he called you a Lunatic instead got you good fucker
Why would anyone waste their time posting something of substance on your nonsense thread comparing the Superbowl to the Browns - Chargers game? If I met someone who was special needs and they told me the sky was green, I wouldn't argue with them because what'd be the point. That's basically how everyone views you. The special needs guy with dumbass views on everything.Footwedge;1756257 wrote:Lunatic...nobody gives a shit about your FW musings of prose here. Lynch had a hard time all year running in from the one. But yeah...it sure sounds to me that Carroll's call was "the worst play call in the history of the NFL". It was definitely not a boneheaded call at all..just horrible execution by a very over rated quarterback. -

When you say something that deserves substance, you'll get it. When you say something like this, you'll just get mocked for being a dumbass.Footwedge;1756257 wrote:Lunatic...nobody gives a shit about your FW musings of prose here. Those are real numbers that came from an article discussing Carroll's decision to go for it. I can't help that you're incapable of comprehending numbers that contradict your delusional beliefs.Footwedge;1756260 wrote:Your numbers are flwed Shemp. I would be more inclined to agree with Foot's assertion that I never comment on the substance of his threads when I show up to mock him if not for little things like...lhslep134;1756586 wrote:Those are real numbers that came from an article discussing Carroll's decision to go for it. 1. He bases his pro-Carroll opinion about the final play of last year's Super Bowl upon two plays in completely different scenarios in an early-season regular-season game (ignoring minor details such as how Lynch is a stud at back the likes of which neither Cleveland nor SD currently have OR that the play in question failed, which is what led to all the commentary about things to begin with).
2. When stats come up that indicate that running in that situation is more inclined to success than passes over the past three years (by 8%, which isn't exactly a "fluke" kind of stat), he immediately dismisses it a "flawed" saying anyone can "make shit up".
So, his personal opinion and one game's worth of anecdotal evidence trumps three years of statistical accumulation. Yeah...there's a reason I don't bother with comments of substance when that kind of worthless blathering is being spewed.
