2015-2016 Bluejackets and NHL

  • sportchampps
This season could be something special for the CBJ. The roster is really talented and if they are healthy this will be the year they win their first postseason series. The addition of Saad will hopefully really pay off as they pair him with RyJo. I will miss Dano though. Any line Predictions.

I also plan on going to some Lake Erie Monsters games to see some of the prospects especially after they won the Traverse City Tourament.

This is is also my first drunken NHL post of the season.

Just dropping in to say Jaromir Jagr is a legend.

I'll be interested to see what the Pens do this year. Offensively, all the talent in the world; Goaltending, a very good guy who tends to implode at really bad times; Defense, uhhhhh.....yeah, they have guys, I think.

I'll be at the preseason game tomorrow night. It will be fun to see the jackets back in action

I'm glad to see hockey back. 3v3 ot be interesting. My plan is 5 games this year.

The bluejackets beat Buffalo 6-4 with a squad made up of mostly guys who will be spending the season in Cleveland. Buffalo had their regulars playing. The young kids really know how to score and the future is bright. Traverse City champs x2 and now beat an NHL team.

Tommorows last preseason game should be interesting. Richards said it will be 99.9% of the guys from the season opener which is a week away. I'll be there tomorrow and again on Friday. Go Jackets!

Defense wasn't an issue last year, it was goal scoring. Fleury was fantastic last year for how bad the offense in front of him was. Daniel Sprong a 2nd rd pick in this past years draft has made the team. He was top 10 material until "character" issues made him fall. Pumped that he made the team. Lines should look like this:

    Kunitz-Crosby-Kessel
    Plotnikov-Malkin-Hornqvist
    Dupuis-Bonino-Perron
    Sprong-Cullen-Bennett

    Cole-Letang
    Maatta-Clendening
    Dumoulin-Lovejoy

    Fleury

I have trouble getting invested in hockey until football is over. With that said, I don't see Boston being competitive this year.

i was in attendance and that was ugly ugly ugly. building was dead, bench dead, players dead. they all looked like they were individuals. 43 was our best player. bob was nothing special.

The defense has been awful. Bob has been bad. Folingo trying to do to much. Todd Richards needs to go. Bob admitted he has 0 confidence right now so what does Richards do announces he will be starting Friday. Going into the season he said he wanted to rotate all four line which would be okay when your healthy but as soon as Wennberg went down and Clarkson was still hurt he needed to cut their time on the ice. Boll shouldn't be in the NHL let alone getting that much ice time.

Saad has been good but gets bumped of the puck a little to easy. Hartnell and Dubi playing hard. Prout and Connauton are both bad defensively and pairing them together is a disaster. We need Gobolef back in there.

I guess I would get fired too, because I would think your goalie should play more and get his mojo back. Benching helps confidence in hockey? I don't know what's going on but I like Todd Richards and not sure why he sucks all of a sudden.
  • sportchampps
Todd Richards has to go. The defense is trash and Bob is cheating because of it and getting burnt. When Bob says he has 0 confidence he needs a night off to watch and clear his head.

I hope Richards is gone by the end of the weekend.

When they get beat by the Hawks tonight, he'll get canned.

    1. Re: Richards -- When a team comes out of the gate sucking ass, rightly or wrongly, the coach is the first guy looked at. If Richards has an impressive foundation of success, that would be a buffer against things like being fired, but he doesn't, so he could easily be scapegoat'd for the way things are right now.

    2. Re: Goalie -- "play more and get his mojo back" is good in theory, but in recent history, Columbus' "thing" is to get utterly buried in the first half of the season and then battle back in the second half in an attempt to snag the last (or one of the last) playoff spots. That's not a high-percentage gambit, so I'd think the team would want to take steps to avoid being in that "have to go 25-5 AT THE WORST to have a fair shot of catching up to the #8 seed" zone. Being 0-5-0 and being outscored like crazy during that time is the sort of thing that can snowball big-time. I would think preventing that snowballing would be the top priority. I don't know what C-bus' goalie situation is like as far as back-ups go, but if my team is giving up 5+ goals per game, losing all of them and generally not being competitive in those losses, I'd be looking at making a few changes, at least for the short term. Having one guy suffer confidence-wise is one thing, having the whole team do so because you didn't make a change, continually get pummeled and are the laughing-stock of the league is another.
  • rydawg5
Gotcha. Their backup is decent, can't spell his name. He is typically giving up 3-4 goals most times I've watched him which would be a huge improvement unfortunately.

I predict a win tonight against the Blackhawks

McElhinney was pretty much out of the NHL for 3 years and the Jackets randomly signed him, he got called up in an emergency and all of the sudden is a good backup? No, I don't buy it. Bob stinks, but it's not all his fault and unless something is wrong with him, he's gotta be getting 85-90% of the starts. With this back end play, McElhinney isn't going to fare any better.
