I expect another sweep. Pitching sucks and our bats have gone silent.

Nice piece on the heyday. Can't believe it's been 20 years.

Oh, and fuck the Dolans !

Klubes has a chance to get one in the win column.
  • HitsRus
No not anymore ... Worse we need a base running coach as well as a hitting coach :(
  • HitsRus
Santana ties it in the 8th with a solo blast ... But Scrabble gives it right back:( ... ... Tribe down to it's last out with Brsntley at the plate and Kip on first....

... And the they drop the first game 4-3. SMH.

Another inspiring start to a series.

6-18 in series openers, by my count.
  • HitsRus
This team just finds a way to lose every nite. :(
  • TBone14
    What is more frustrating?

A team that can score runs but with pitching that can't hold the leads?

Or what we have have. Pitching that is good enough most nights but a team that can't score runs?

    Go Tribe!

Team that can't score. It's incredibly rare to have a staff like this.
  • HitsRus
Every nite it's a different scenario. We sing praises about our pitching, but it was Scrabble that came in the 8th and gave up three staright hits. One day it's the starters, the next the relievers, the next poor hitting, the next it is the defense.

In general, we have wasted far more incredible pitching performances than lost games when the offense has scored 5 or more runs.

Thats a ridiculous argument. The bullpen is allowed to give up runs every so often. Yes, they are worse than years past, but they aren't costing us games. The starters have been amazing. It's solely on the offense. We have 2 guys who play everyday who are worthy anything (and Lindor is a ???), Kipnis and Brantley.

Moss, Santana, Bourn, Gomes, Chiz (now Urshela), etc have been garbage. It's on the the hitting. With better hitting Kluber, Salazar and Carrasco might all be in the ASG (not sure if the managers use WAR when factoring it in, but Carrasco and Kluber were both high up last I looked).
  • HitsRus
    Carrasco is definitely ASG.
You are right that it's on the hitting, but there have been a number of times when the game has been given up by the pitching or defense. If you look at The tribe offensive stats you'll see that team is pretty much middle of the pack except for one key stat... Hitting with runners in scoring position.

While you are correct, IF we were scoring runs at a decent rate (and consistently), we aren't upset about the bullpen woes once a week or the starters sucking 1/2 times a week...because we still are way over .500. The problem is magnified on all fronts because we are losing, but the losing starts with the poor run production. Flip that around, and we don't even notice that we don't have a 5th starter or a reliable 7th inning man...
  • HitsRus
Well, that's for sure....a little more timely hitting would cover or pick up amistake on the mound or in the field. It always seems that they are just a run short.
  • HitsRus
If we want to take this series, we'll have to sweep a twin bill tomorrow.

Yep. And what was it, 2 years ago or last year where we hit at an incredible rate with men in scoring position (and especially with 2 outs), to start the season.
  • BRF
Hey, guess how many runs the Tribe has going into the 6th?

    You are all correct: 0
