Reds @ Phillies...Game 2

  • Ironman92
Ridiculous loss yesterday and today the struggling Leake will attempt to get it going but he simply cannot get lefties out and teams have figured this out.

Why did Chapman not pitch last night? He has hardly pitched in the last month, and they can't bring him in to get 5 or 6 outs? It's crazy. He's one of the most dominant relievers ever, but at the pace he's used, I'd be fine if he is traded because he's never used.

    Good question.

I know he "struggles" in non save situations....2.70 ERA, 1.875 WHIP but he has pitched often in tie games so not sure why last night was different.
That is a game that ya need to win. A loss is a kick in the nuts.

Last night was a save situation. You could tell from the first batter in the 8th that Diaz was going to blow it. How you don't have your closer on-call is beyond me...and then to blow the game with 2 inferior relievers...is irritating.

Jumbo didn't blow it. Bruce blew it by completely whiffing on a routine play. George and Chris wanna say he lost it in the lights. Bull fucking shit.
  • Azubuike24
It's George. He's always going to play the company line. With 2 outs in the 8th, tying run at the plate, a guy with decent power up and a pitcher who has been defined this year by giving up gopher balls? Is there any reason AT ALL not to have your stud closer in?

So you are talking about bringing him in the 8th then if you are talking about last night.

Price hinted this year he would, but hasnt done so yet. He stretched him out in ST some, even throwing 2 innings very early on. Last night's weather was pretty shitty.
    I can give you that.

But the 2 runs they scored in the 8th off of Diaz. 2 outs, lost in the lights double and then a HR by the next guy. Pretty quick strike and to be honest...the whole time ya felt like the reds were in control. They need to get more out of chapman I agree and bringing him in for more than 3 outs is something Price should do. I would get him up to toss in the 8th in a game like last night so if something happen quickly, like last night, they can stall just enough to get him into the game.

Isn't "it happened so fast" an excuse for a manager letting the game manage him rather than him taking control? I mean, how many losses is that where the Reds haven't even given their best guys a shot, seemingly "saving them" for later? At least 4 or 5 this year alone...

For as many games as Diaz has blown already, you would think Chapman would be throwing and "any baserunner" would bring out the hook...

    Not disagreeing with you.

In a 1-2 run game I have him up in the 8th getting loose so he can come in at a moments notice. Just saying last night it did happen...just that fast with two batters, one not being Diaz's fault.Just shows that bad teams find ways to piss games away.

BP seems to be getting dialed in.

Frazier has been pathetic in Philly in front of his hometown people! With the bad miscue on a simple chance and 0/5 last night, now he takes a 3rd strike to kill the best chance at a run after a one out double steal.

Yes, with 2 RBI that time! He usually does well hitting lefties from which their breaking balls don't go away from him!
  • wildcats20
    Lol there's Bruce again.
  • wildcats20
    Sweet hell.

    Awful. Just awful.
  • brutus161
    I fucking hate this!

Chappy looks like complete shit. And not just because he gave up the 3 run shot. He can't throw a strike to save his life.

I think his back may have been bothering him.
  • mhs95_06
Utley got down the line to first in extremely good time to foil what would have been an inning ending double play in the 10th.

I'm having a hard time finding any enjoyment from this damn team.

Turn off the Reds and enjoy another couple weeks of hockey/basketball. Then it's 2-3 months 'til football.

Neighbor stopped over on the back deck last night during the last inning. About shit when I saw it was tied and into extras and damned near broke the remote after that fucked up play.

Reds are doing their browns impression in making up new ways to lose.

Had a slight sliver of hope after the Nats series but now............absolutely none.

    Thanks for the neighbor update

That loss still pisses me off.
