Tride vs. Reds - Series Thread

  • IggyPride00
Watching the Cavs game now but realized I was on the hook for the series thread. Tribe whooping the Reds 5-2 in the 5th.

Leake can't get out lefties and Indians had 8/9

    nibbles like Glavine used to

Tribe has won 4 in a row (7 of 10) and picked up no ground on either KC or Detroit. They sit 9 games out of first still, and 7 out of 2nd.

I suspect that we will be fighting it out with the rest of the league for that 2nd slot in the play in game because KC/Detroit look like locks to both cruise comfortably to the division and home field of the play in game.

KC, IMO, is the best team in the AL. We could catch Detroit though, who has real flaws. 2nd WC slot is most realistic though.

I am still kind of surprised about that. They just had a flash in the pan feel about them as a team that got hot at the right time but would come back to earth this year. They lost Shields, and I thought for sure they would regress to their more normal position. That totally has not happened.

Another solid win last night. Reds are really struggling. All 3 would be nice this weekend.

    Go Tribe.

Reds pushing Cueto back from Sunday's start and will throw rookie Raisel Iglesias. They are finally getting Jason Marquis out of the rotation and presumably moving Cueto into that spot. This is definitely good news for the Tribe. Cueto is tough to beat on get away days.

Brantley out. Is that precautionary, rest or injury?
  • HitsRus
Brantley in a 3-20 skid..... Day off.
  • HitsRus
Kluber does a nice job getting out of that mess ... Only 1 run scores on a sac fly.
Reds lead 1-0 with Tribe coming to bat in the 2nd.

    Jesus Votto.

Im all for a day off, but 3/20 isn't overly concerning with him. Only 5 games worth. Wish we could've/would've waited for a lefty to be in mound.

    The double play?
  • HitsRus
I'm glad Phillips plays in the other league, because every time he gets a hit against us, I get pissed thinking of Shapiro's brain fart trade.
  • TBone14
Kluber needs to learn to hit. Maybe he could help his own cause when he pitches because these guys will not score for him.
  • Con_Alma
Mr. Kluber is now in line for the win.

    5 in a row.....

    Sweep these chumps tomorrow.

Nice to see the tribe finally play winning baseball. It's going to be hard climbing back into this given that they play in the toughest division in baseball. (22 games over 500..are you kidding me?)

Kipnis and Murphy, the 2 hitting heroes yesterday continue to surprise. Gomes is coming back, and Marcum's performance elevates the hope of having the best starting rotation in the division, The bullpen still is a concern.
Tribe has several 300 hitters so far...yet they also have some disappointers. Lonnie? Good grief. Carlos is not hitting a lick and Bourn is simply a disgrace. Given that Brantley is a capable center fielder, wouldn't rule out the possibility of starting Murphy and Moss in the corner out field positions...they've earned p.t. over Bourn. Use Bourn as a late inning replacement or possible a pinch runner. That's about all the playing time he's earned.
  • Laley23
Michael Bourn is hitting .294 the last 28 days...but yeah, I'm sure you were aware of that and not just generalizing his numbers after a bad start.
  • HitsRus
    Gomes is back!
