Twinkies @ Tribe - Series Thread

  • IggyPride00
Here I was thinking this would be a nice chance for the Tribe to win a series with the Twinkies coming to town.

Didn't realize Minnesota was 8-2 in their last 10 and has pushed it to 3 games over .500 on the season. They are surging right now.

I still think the Tribe will finally win a series this weekend, but it looks like it won't be as easy as I had hoped.

No more bullshit. Time to get it going. Home series vs the Twins. This has to be a series win.

    Go Tribe.

reps...enough is enough. Time for these guys to get out of the fog they've been playing in and get going. Bad things start to happen when the GM loses confidence in a team's chances to make post season. They start making these evaluations about 40-50 games in. Tito needs to read these guys the riot act, if he hasn't already.

I expect another sweep. Pitching sucks and our bats have gone silent.

Unfortunately the reverse jinx doesn't work when what you say is true. :(

Kluber remains on the pace to go 0-24. FML.

I think unfortunately everyone in the organization has gotten a little too comfortable and there is no sense of urgency.

They have closed strong the past 2 years despite similarly slow starts, so I think they all just assume they will hit the switch like the last 2 years and everything will be fine.

That is a dangerous way to operate. Strong second halves though also ensure that Shaponetti won't sell off players or make moves for the future because they will keep holding out hope that this year will be just like the last 2 and we will just turn it on at the end.

It's always been true. It was true last season, no offense and our pitching sucked. No clue why anyone is surprised this season. We played penis flickers on SP/Many bats and then kept one of our best players in the minors bc dolans are cheap as fuck owners.

Here's the problem...even though Kipnis, Chiz, and Moss have started to hit, there are three dead holes in the Tribe batting order. Basically, CF, SS and Catcher. Ramirez, Bourn and Perez/Hayes are hitting a buck eighty. David Murphy is not much help at .235. You can sorta eexcuse the back up catchers... but Bourn and Ramirez are killing us. Obviously, Lindor is only a call up away. But what do you do with Bourn? UGH. The Tribe needs Gomes back...and if this team is going anywhere, Michael Bourn is going to have to earn his money.

It never surprises me because it's a "rinse, repeat" type of thing with this front office. If the pitching is lights out and the hitting sucks, they just think that the pitching will remain status quo (or better) and the hitting is "bound to rebound" but it doesn't because they suck. On those rare (every 5-7 years) occasions when they seem to put it all together, Shapiro/Antonetti are "geniuses" when, for the most part, they're not.

But like you said, it all comes down to cheap ass Dolan. Kind of hard for Shapiro/Antonetti to make filet mignon when Dolan gives them 'Steak-Umm" money.

The team on paper was loaded...You can play the Dolan card all you want. But the pitching staff is nowhere near where they should be. Carrasco, Kluber, House, Zebzinski, Allen, Shaw...all garbage. Bourn is an abomination and should retire. The ss is playing like crap at both ends. Why Lindor continues to rot away in Columbus is a mystery.

    Go Fausto Kluber.

Loaded? Idk why Indians fans thought this would be a good hitting team, many of the preseason projections had them with the worst team BA in the division. How do you expect to compete with Detroit and KC who had the two best in the AL last year and are following suit this season

I based it on having a dominant pitching staff. Instead, they have probably the worst staff in the league.

Great article on how this team's defense is once again sabotaging any chance of being a decent team.

There is a chart in that article that will blow your minds. It shows that we are playing defense at a level (so poor) not seen in 85 years.

It was bad last year, and has only gotten worse. That should surprise no one though because we brought back essentially the exact same team.

Quite frankly this roster needs to be blown up.

They don't hit and they don't field. Other than Bourn & Brohio they are all on cheap team frielndly deals though and when it comes down to it with this organization that is all that is really important.

The optimism on this team was based on its pitching which is always the #1 priority. Most certainly, it was overrated....not because our pitchers suck, but because they are still young and learning to pitch.....which leads to the inconsistency that we are seeing now.

What do you make of the problem with the defense and their seeming inability to get it anywhere near an acceptable major league level?

As you said, the strength of the team is pitching. Usually teams built around pitching have good defenses as the 2 go hand in hand.

Is it really realistic to think at this point this group is going to suddenly just start being better in the field when year after year they continue to do it at a level far below the major league average?

It feels like it is undermining our pitching and making it weaker than it otherwise should be.

This team has no professional pride. They are just getting blown out right now and they're totally cool with it.

Sorry, sorry state of affairs. Didn't watch much of it but I did see Brantley thrown out at the plate by 15 feet. Now that can happen in a game but the situation made that play unbearable. Tribe down 7-1 in the 6th and Brantley is on second with 1 out. A bloop hit to left in which Brantley had to hold up. Hey Saurbaugh, you are down 6 runs. You gonna gamble and send him with only 1 out?

SMH. This team is not easy on the eyes.

This is feeling a lot like 2008....can it cost Francona his job?

I would hope he has a pretty long leash given his past and his popularity, but Dolan probably just sees it as a salary dump so he can get a AAA manager and not pay him shit
