My biggest issue is why Bourn wasn't put in the game? Makes no sense. Or at least have Brantley in CF on days when Bourn is out. Who knows if Allen ever gets an out, but that should've been 3-0 with 2 outs and 2 on...
  • IggyPride00
It might be time to try other options at closer.

Allen is walking too many guys, and it just feels like he is constantly flirting with disaster out there.

3 runs is a freaking offensive explosion for this team, and it is criminal that they wasted that start by Bauer.
  • TBone14
Another gem wasted. Have already said that too many times. If it isn't the offense getting blanked...the bully is giving it up.

    Gotta get it together.

Eh, probably. But even with Bourne out there, that catch isn't a guarantee.

Agreed. Bourne is no Kenny Lofton. Cody Allen ERA...18.0. Trevor Bauer... .095.

Meltdowns in the ninth are really hard swallow. But this offense is pathetic. When are they going to start hitting? Don't have even one home run this year with a man on base. That's hard to do.
  • IggyPride00
When are they going to start hitting?
They haven't hit on a consistent basis for years now, and yet nothing is ever done to bring in guys that are capable of more than the boom/bust shit that has crippled this team.

The offense was bad last year, and bring in a poor man's Mark Reynolds in Moss is the only move of consequence Shaponetti made.

Then again quality hitters aren't found at the thrift store Shaponetti is forced to shop at. Big Lots and Blue Light Specials are now too rich for the Dolan's blood.

It is criminal how they insist on forcing this team to waste quality pitching that could win something if given some real help.

^^^^ hello? ... did you watch the game last night? The game was in the can..the TEAM played well and they had a 3-0 lead after 8 1/3 innings. They were let down by a closer who didn't have his stuff and a manager who had a brain fart and didn't give his team the best chance to win. Cody Allen has good stuff, he just didn't have it last nite. His pitches were flat and left up in the strike zone. Bourn ABSOLUTELY makes that catch in CF. Brantley in CF probably makes it. Both of those guys have superior speed and experience in tracking well hit drives. Aviles, a super utility player with limited CF experience had no chance. I was surprised he came as close as he did.

So much for the Tribe wanting to get out to a "fast start." I expect them to correct some things going forward but they haven't done themselves any favors out of the gate.

You gotta think (hope) this shit is going to balance out as the season moves on. If our pitching staff keeps this up, it's hard to believe we are going to keep losing.

There's some old saying about "you're gonna win 60 (or 50), lose 60 (or 50) and what you do with the rest determines your season" or some crap like that. If you don't win 60, you're pretty shitty. LOL

Youre kidding right? A gold glove CF with superior speed doesn't make that catch? He makes that catch and is standing under it for a second waiting...

Aviles is slow and has no clue how to read a ball hit over his head and still almost made it. Bourn would've had no issues with it.

Bourn plays a very shallow centerfield and I've watched him botch flies like that ever since he's been here. Don't think he makes that play. I don't care that he won 2 gold gloves 5 years ago, he's no Kenny Lofton out there.

In fact, I'm sick and tired of watching Michael Bourn play way below his station. He's been just about as bad as Swisher and their 13 million dollar yearly contracts.

Bourn is not the same player he used to be and even national writers are taking notice.

From Jonah Keri's most recent article, "Michael Bourn isn't anywhere near the skilled fly ball catcher he used to be"

The discussion on the Indians revolves around our defense http://grantland.com/the-triangle/mlb-the-30-twins-yankees-indians-nationals-defense/

Bourn or Brantley on a bad day>>>then Aviles in CF.
The game situation dictates that Bourn would not be playing "shallow".. Tribe likely in a " no doubles defense ".

The good news. CC appears to have good stuff and is showing no signs of getting smoked in the face with a line drive. He struck out the side in the 1st.

The bad news: along the way of striking out the side...Jose Abreu hit one 400+ to left center to put the Sox up 1-0.

Despite Underwoods explanation, I am with Manning in being skeptical of why Carrasco left at 60 pitches today. Hopefully thats just the Cleveland Indians fan in me...

Z-Mac is just never going to work. He cannot throw anything other than a fastball for a strike. And his fastball isnt fast enough for that.
  • Mulva
    Nice play, Moss.

    Hopefully that isn't a killer.
  • Laley23
Shaw looked good there. More velocity and better location. Nice to see.

Z-Mac has his place....heck, even Josh Tomlin has a place. All teams are going to have pitchers like them.
I really don't want to compare Z-Mac with Tomlin though. McCallister has much better stuff and he showed it at the end of last year. He's not at that level right now... but neither are a lot of the guys.

Well played game by the Tribe last night. Raburn is off to a fast start. The pitching was really pretty good.

Fair enough, but that place is not end of a close game, like Tito is trying to mold him for...
  • TBone14
Tribe down 1-0 early and Kluber in a jam in the 3rd.

Not watching...doesn't appear like he has his best stuff.
  • Laley23
This team is tough to watch right now. So many guys just without a clue at the plate.
