Tribe vs. White Sox (Series Thread)

  • Laley23
Tribe off to a seemingly slow start, but much of that is due to running into a red hot Tigers team early.

Our big 3 starters have all looked good, though only Kluber has gone out twice. Hopefully Carrasco and Bauer keep it going vs the Sox in this quick 2 game set before an off day Thursday. We avoid Sale, who looked great last time out, which is nice. After owning the Sox 2 years ago, we returned to earth versus the last year. Heres to hoping we get 2015 off to a more 2013 like year versus them!

    Tomorrow:
    Carrasco (1-0) vs Quintana (0-0)

    Wednesday:
    Bauer (1-0) vs Danks (0-1)

I'd like to see both Carrasco and Bauer strike out 8+ with less than 3 ER. If so, I'll feel very good about this season (once Salazar regains form and moves McC or House to the bench)

I'd like to see Bauer be efficient with his pitches and limit the walks. His stuff is so good; the K's will always be there but he has to throw more strikes and limit the free passes. Make them hit their way on base.

God I hope this happens sooner rather than later. Having to watch either, let alone one is horrifying.

    McC on the mound:

    House on the mound:

Trying to watch our windmills up there:

House was awesome last year. Granted, I dont/didnt think it would carry over. But, Im willing to give him 2-3 starts before saying it was a fluke.

McCallister, he has never been good.
  • TBone14
House doesn't matchup well vs the Tigers as a soft tossing lefty vs that lineup with great right handed sticks. I'm not putting much stock in that start.

I did read this: Over the last 2 seasons plus the start of this season...the Tigers are 17-5 vs the Tribe in Cleveland. They are 11-7 vs the Tribe in the same time frame in Detroit. So somehow...we play these guys worse at home. Horrible.

    Go Tribe.

    Go Tribe.

I'm figuring that somehow the ChiSox will gain a split.... but with Carrasco and Bauer going, I think the Tribe should pound these guys.

We should have a petty good idea of where we stand at the end of the month....central division is pretty much doing a round robin in April.

Yep. That comment was more to signify that 2-4 is magnified because it's so early and 3 are to the Tigers. The main worry is they still cannot compete versus Detroit head to head. But 2-4 I'm not worried about.

Injuries, bullpen and lack of ability versus the Tigers are what worries me.

The Tribe need to win both here with Bauer and Carrasco pitching.

    No Brantley tonight.

There never was going to be until Friday. 2 off days and 2 lefties...

CC takes a liner off the face 2nd hitter of the game. His day his done. Hopefully this is precautionary but it doesn't look good.

    What else can go wrong?
  • TBone14
Unrelated...the Indians new midnight blue tops are quite handsome.
  • Laley23
It's impossible to be an Indians fan. Jesus they just never have luck.
  • TBone14
Scary shit. It looks like he is ok. He may have some broken face bones and may be concussed but he is awake.

When I was in college, I umpired travel baseball...up to the 13 and 14 year olds. Scariest thing I've ever seen was a 14 year old...probably about 6'2"...swinging a -8 bat...hit a liner that the pitcher took square in the forehead. He never even had a chance to react. He was knocked unconscious for about 2 minutes but it felt like an hour Squad came. Game was called. I was behind the dish for that game...it had me shaken up.

Another nice day, another shitty start.
  • HitsRus
LOL at Eaton making the 3 rd out at 3rd base trying to stretch a double into a triple.

Ugh, Moss with the Golden Sombrero tonite... 3 K's.
  • Laley23
Carrasco being treated for a jaw contusion. No signs of concussion or broken bones. Fantastic news!!
  • BRF
    Nice in-game talk.

    We are losing 4-1, T8

Not much to talk about. All things considered...pitching was OK tonight being put in a bad spot. Bats need to wake up.
  • BRF
    And good news on Carrasco!

Just heard Hammy say Yankees are going down this year and saying he is happy to hear it.
  • Laley23
This is just such a buzzkill to start the year.

Injuries to 3 of our 4 best players. Swept by the Tigers. Im glad I will be away for the next 4 games. Need a break to get re0energized. This opening week has been nothing but a giant disappointment...and that is just the peripherals. I dont even care about the record.
