It's Time To Wreck This League-Check In Jhonny Backers

As the old saying goes, the backup is always "one play away."
Not with this team. He knew where he stood with Pettine, and that as long as Hoyer was breathing chances of him playing were next to 0.

Hoyer finally was so bad for so long that Pettine couldn't take bullets for him anymore. Make no mistake though, having Johnny in there is not what Pettine wants.

So if Hoyer got knocked out of the game Pettine was going to go in and play QB? Derp...the backup QB always has to be ready. Manziel has pretty much stated he was not. He showed yesterday that he wasn't ready but the timing to put him in was right with how bad Hoyer was playing.

This isn't A&M. You can't just draw shit up in the dirt, run around avoiding a pass rush for 10 seconds and call that an "offense."

The difference in that one was that it was a winnable game and Weeden did everything he could to lose it. Manziel had a lot of help in yesterday's loss but indeed looked terrible.

I expect him to bounce back. Hopefully this is a wakeup call for him and he realizes that this isn't going to come easy to him. Heard an interview where he said this past week was the first time he'd really prepared to play. Not good. As the old saying goes, the backup is always "one play away."
Since the Browns return in '99 only Weeden had a worse rookie debut.

He's gotten almost no reps this year with whats been reported even in practice. They have treated him like a 2nd class citizen jerk off all year and then expect him to magically come in and save the season week 15.

They have bungled this shit with the QB since day 1.

I said since the beginning the only thing that mattered this year was figuring out if Johnny was the guy or not, and we really aren't going to know that from 3 games.

It has been a big fail all the way around wasting as much time as was wasted on a guy that had no future here and wasn't going to be on the roster next year.

And that was an abortion. The defense probably wanted to kill Weeden for that performance as much as the defense probably wanted to tar & feather Hoyer last week against Indy.

Rizzo going off on the Browns O-line right now. Says it is the worst he has seen a Browns Oline beat in 5 years.

Couple that with the Defense acting like they have never played football and it was over before it even started.

Nice to see the JFF sack riders are throwing out excuse after excuse. Doesn't seem like Hoyer got the same treatment. It was a "team" loss but I don't see any negative comments from that HACK, Riz, in your comments regarding Manziel.
  • IggyPride00
He said after re-watching the game he wasn't even mad at Johnny anymore because he realized that from the coaches on down to the line Johnny never even was given a chance out there.

    He's not wrong.
  • BR1986FB
LOL.....knew this was coming from the nuthuggers. Knew it.

Rizzo isn't making excuses for Johnny...surprisingly he's being very sane this morning. He just asked if all those people that said last week that Johnny is the QB next year no matter what are still with that AND he thinks you have to bring Hoyer back if this continues.

Thanks for letting us know that instead of Iggy's one-sided take. The way he put it, he came across like Rizzo was offering up excuses.

Manziel, potentially looking like crap the next 3 weeks, could play right into Hoyer's hands and Iggy's worst nightmare, if they resign him. LOL

You seem to have a personal vendetta against Johnny. Why do you want people to attack him when he was clearly put in a position to fail?

I don't have a vendetta against Manziel. I WANT him to succeed, unlike some so called Browns "fans" who wished injury or ill will on Hoyer. Hoyer looked like crap so it was time to make the switch to Manziel. He wasn't everything the nuthuggers dreamt of in his first start.

I do have a vendetta against the over the top/cocksure JFF "fan boys" who have already enshrined him in Canton when he hasn't done shit. Unlike a select few on here, I root for the front of the jersey, not the back.

Rizzo did say "If you would rather be right about Johnny than have the Brown's win, you're a loser" and that is correct. Hoyer had a 25.1 qb rating the last 4 games, he wasn't the answer. Maybe Johnny will be, but he has 2 games to show something other than the shit he showed yesterday.
  • bases_loaded
Also...the over throws...whatever...rookie...but the INTs...wow, terrible decisions. Constantly throwing while back peddling...c'mon man. As bad as the O-line was, he had a chance to show us he at least could play the position and didn't.

Just like how a few were about Hoyer (rather be right than win).

Heard some of the postgame analysis and that was one of the keys the Bengals wanted to do....get JFF into throwing while going backwards.

That first pick wasn't good but the second one, in the end zone, was a horrible decision.

Discussing who was "less worse" is ridiculous to me. It's been my opinion all along that the QB to lead the team on a deep playoff run is not currently on the roster.

    Exactly.

If you (the collective you) can't understand this post, then stop posting. He is not ready yet, don't know if he will be good or not. But the organization had no choice at this time but to throw him to the fire and see what happens.

You could say the same about the coach.

Any coach that can have his team come out as flat continually as Pettine does is clearly unable to motivate properly.

If Harbaugh is free this off season Haslam should back up the Brinks truck.

I have had it with amateur hour and this organization. It's time to bring the grown ups in.

Well, yeah, most coaches with working brains wouldn't want a QB in who looks like Johnny did yesterday.

Iggy, STFU. You are the most irrational member of the OC community. Pettine had a team in the playoff hunt with a pro bowl center out for the season, 2 rookie running backs, Brian Hoyer at QB, our top two receiving threats out most of the year (and ineffective when they DID play), and numerous significant injuries to our defense (Hughes, Bryant, Dansby, Gipson). You're a freaking moron if you think that he's the reason we're losing games. Go back in your hole so us adults can have legitimate conversation.

He's just posting this shit for "shock" value. Nobody could be THAT stupid. I think he sits and thinks "what's the most irrational/off the wall shit I can throw out there to rile up the masses" and then he posts.

Leave any and all Browns discussion for real Cleveland fans please, not fake wannabes like you and FW.
