Outstanding Garden. I was too young to remember but I think Bobby Layne refused to have any bars. Most running backs had the double bar.Gardens35;1678602 wrote:QB 's wearing the single - bar mask. -
FootwedgeOh...I do remember the Eagles wide receiver Tommy McDonald had no face mask either.

\\Ah yes...the double duty. Paul Hornung and Gerry Kramer (offensive guard) place kicked for the Packers. Groza played d tackle until late in his career. George Blanda was a damn good quarterback and did all the place kicking for the Raiders. I loved watching the old AFL before the merger.BRF;1678579 wrote:Wow! Nice thread. The Gogolaks. Pretty much changed it all.
Don't forget that with Groza, in those days they were looking for double duty.
Tom Dempsey and his club footed record FG. . (AND... The circumstances that allowed that to happen!)
thevoice: didn't realize you were one of the old folks!
Al Bundy with his last remark.... !
BTW....the FG that "won" the "drive" was barefooted. (Rich Karlis from North Canton). From my view in the lower left of the Dog Pound, the kick was wide. -

Fair Hooker, wide receiver Browns circa 1970. I remember Dandy Don quipping after Hooker caught a pass on Monday night football. "yup, I never met one that was."Gardens35;1678612 wrote:I. M. Hipp. -

Kirtland is very tough. We are 1-1 against them and we utilized the spread almost exclusively. If they control the ball like they did against us the first time it makes it very tough for spread offenses to get out there and get into a good tempo.Ironman92;1678586 wrote:Valley will spread vs Kirtland.....guessing Kirtland will win big.
BRF...Nah..I just have a good memory!!! -
WallyThat one cornerback for the Raiders…Haynes?....that covered himself with stick-em until they outlawed it. If he got a hand on it-it stuck to him.

Gardens35Woke up, fell out of bed. Dragged a comb across my head. Found my way downstairs and had a cup. And looking up, I noticed I was late.
