Jordan or Kobe?

  • wes_mantooth
The other day on sports talk radio I heard an interesting discussion on Kobe and MJ. They were debating on who is the better clutch player. So, who would you rather have taking the final shot with your team trailing?

    Anderson Varejao

Kobe Bryant is the best current clutch shooter in the NBA. I still think that the greatest of all time, when your team simply had to have one huge basket to win, was Jordan. It would be relatively close between these two guys.

Ask me a year ago and I say Jordan but Kobe is making a really strong case on this now.

That is pretty much my feeling on it as well. Kobe hasn't done it on as big of stage as Jordan, but he just keeps on doing it.....I think it is very close.

Exactly. Jordan was very clutch but they weren't occurring nearly as much as what Kobe is doing now. It seems like once every couple weeks, Kobe hits another big one.

I think by the end of my lifetime the top 3 players are going to be 1. Lebron 2. Kobe 3. Jordan
Being blessed by watching these 3 is definitely one of the highlights of sports during my lifetime.

Why in the world werent the Kings double teaming Kobe? Hell, Id triple team him and put each of the other two defenders on each side of the lane. There was one guy the Kings didnt want shooting that shot, yet not only did they let him. He was wide open!!

For Jordan they weren't occuring because the Bulls were stomping every team in sight during their run.

    Quote:

"(Bryant) is right there with Michael (Jordan) in that kind of breath (among clutch players)," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "These players, I don't know how they get themselves into these positions, but they do an unbelievable job of hitting shots that are remarkable shots, marvelous shots."

I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't think Jordan is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but due to the availability heuristic I took Kobe.

    This.

One other point, when the clutch shot was needed, Jordan would draw all the attentin to himself and then put a dagger in the opponents heart by passing it off to Steve Kerr, John Paxson, Pippen, or whoever for the game winning bucket. I have not seen Kobe have the same confidence in his teammates.

During the regular season, the Bulls really didn't need many last second shots if my memory serves me correct.

I picked Jordan and I HATE Jordan
