If they are going to lose right now it is almost better this way.

Getting shut at out at home in the 2 biggest games of the year would eliminate any of the weasel stuff they try and downplay the offensive ineptitude.

I heard Baghdad Bob talking about how we spent most of the year in the top 10 in the league in runs scored (11th currently) as evidence that the offense has everything it needs and isn't that bad.

Losing like this just drives home how the numbers aren't telling the whole story.

    Jeez.... Heading for the exit.

No runs or 10 run explosions. How many times did we say this season, "Save some for tomorrow, boys." And then they would get shutdown the next night. But hey, we scored 12 runs in a 3 game series. But it was 1-10-1 and losing 2 of 3.

Sadly it is true. I actually have some hope for this team next year. Peter Gammons article about the pitching staff made me excited for the future of this team. Just need a fucking big bat.

^^^Big right handed bat....that lineup that Tito put out there last nite against the left hander Duffy was ridiculous.

Yan Gomes has jacked a three run bomb to give the Tribe the early lead tonite. The Indians need to win tonite to stave off mathematical elimination.

Probably too little too late but would like to see them finish a successful -ish season with a couple wins and not 6 straight shutouts.

Same. Really wanna see these young pitchers (especially Kluber, who could steal the CYA) finish strong. This is Bauers last chance. Salazar has a chance to bounce back. Kluber and Carrasco havent really had a bad outing since the ASG, and it would be awesome to finish that way.

Hitters, a lot of them are still playing for something. Brantley needs 3 hits for 200, 4 RBI for 100 and BA. Santana needs 3 HRs for 30 and leads league in BBs. Gomes for the SS at C. Chisenhall wants to finish his best season off well. Ramirez is hitting over .300 since his recall (and regular playing time).

But, as a team, it would be nice to see them finish out like 3-1, or 4-0.

Also, I think we can/will pass the Tigers of last year for most Ks in a season...so, according to Classy....we will have the best staff in the MLB next year and it wont be close.

    ...now 3-2....

it would be nice to see Kluber get the Cy Young....but I'd prefer AFTER he signs a nice long contract extension ;)

Fantastic plays by Chiz at 3rd. But Royals take a 4-3 lead. Bauer cannot end the season on a high note, which is too bad. He has had some really nice moments this year. Hope he keeps progressing.

    Damn.

    Brantley...198 hits.

Tribe gets it back with a chance to get a big inning ... Keep that swing short Carlos!

    Abreu 2nd?

I have him 2nd. The way he has performed the last 3 weeks of the year (when the games were most important) has been incredible.

EDIT: Did you see the recent article that puts him as valuable as the sluggers based on his baserunning? They had him as the #1 baserunner in MLB, if I remember correctly.

    Mariners lose again tonight... SMH.
Good situational baseball there... Aviles walked, stole 2nd ... Perez moves him over... Murphy with the sac fly. :)

    Tribe up 6-4.

I have VMart 2nd....highest OPS in MLB, .334 AVG, rarely whiffs and on division champs.

This article said he is 11th...and laid out a GREAT reason why.

Ill see if I can find it for you...

I'm going to read it but am not feeling greatly open-minded.

Having trouble with the base running numbers. So many factors on going 1st to 3rd and 2nd to home, first to home.

Batted 4th and 10th in AL in runs scored....having him 11th and 8 spots behind Jon Lester? Ridiculous.

I wouldn't have trouble with Brantley, Trout, Donaldson above him....cannot buy anyone else.

Where is Jose Altuve in this list? Not top 10? No way.

I dont buy a lot of the article.

But, the baserunning factor I DID find interesting. I knew he was bad, didnt know he was THAT bad. Obviously there are factors, as you said, but in that park...it should be even easier. He really hinders that offense with his baserunning imo. I know a few times the Tigers didnt score when they should because he gets on base 1st and it subsequently takes 3 hits (not even productive outs help) to score him. I saw a White Sox player go to 1st instead of second, because it was better to have him at 2nd with 2 outs than whoever was batting at 1st lol

I still can't get past not mentioning Altuve...is he one of the two above Brantley in base running? He does it all and is putting up a Ty Cobb like season.

    Also....VMart 68 BB and 40 strikeouts
