New Orleans @ Cleveland

Up through the first two weeks I will crow. I hated the Hawkins signing but he's looked better than I ever thought he would.

He's the guy I've noticed the most stepping up as a pass catcher. (Not watched all quarters)....the guy replacing Cameron (Barnage?) looked to be doing well pulling in some nice catches.

Austin and Hawkins were definitely impressive.

    They sucked vs Pittsburgh though

Pretty sure I saw earlier that Hawkins is leading the AFC and 4th in the league with 14 receptions. I like Hawkins. Austin still needs to come along more.

What? Didn't Hawkins have 8 or 9 catches for close to 100 yards against Pittsburgh? (Though against Ike Taylor shouldn't count)

Benjamin unfortunately is only good for deep balls and bubble screens and Hoyer can't throw it far enough for the deep ball.

Yeah I guess moreso Austin sucked. Hawkins didn't.

The first sentence is correct. And we are averaging over 26 points a game lololol I know it's only two games but still. Our offense is only going to get better with Gordon and Cameron back

The one fly route Travis ran Sunday, if hoyer had a stronger arm and LEDs him downfield that's six

Good lord. When you're using Mike Phipps for your argument you've reached rock bottom. Mike Phipps? Dude was a major stiff.

    Thanks for reiterating my point

Why? Even though his production in an increased role was unknown, he was guaranteed to be an upgrade over Bess.

Browns did what good teams do on Sunday. This could be the turning of the page for the franchise.
So many instances in the past they find ways to lose this one, but to make taht long drive and get a fortunate ruling (and the correct one) on the out of bounds play lends me to believe that the future is nothing but bright for the browns.

Still though....Hoyer needs to deliver the ball better. That last one should have been a TD.

I also think the Steelers have a nice young, up & coming defense that is efficient at stopping the run....one of Lebeau's best defenses in years. I think they could make a Super Bowl run.

I also think it would be bad if Roethlisberger got hit by a bus.

Mike Phipps didn't sit. Couch didn't sit. Montana didn't sit.And those are just off the top of my head. The Browns insist on playing Wayne Kirby instead of Manny Ramirez. Same bullshit argument. There's no doubt in my mind this team would be 2-0 right now if they would play the best player at quarterback.
Your arguing just gets worse and worse the more you try to defend your position.

You included guys who did sit to begin with (Marino didn't start until week 6 his first year; Kaepernick only played a handful of downs his entire rookie season; Eli made his first career start in November in his rookie year). You included a guy like Mike Phipps, who might be one of the worst players ever used to prove a point. And you didn't note minor details such as how extenuating circumstances forced some guys to start earlier than planned. Roethlisberger started as the back-up to Tommy Maddox (who had been pretty solid the previous year), but Maddox got hurt in the second game and he took over. Also, Couch started as the back-up to Ty Detmer, but took over late in the first game and started the next week (apparently, only getting two first downs in a game signifies time for a change).

So please...just stop trying. Assuming you still have a sense of pride, you have to realize you're just embarrassing yourself.

There's no way he realizes how dumb he actually is.

Failwedge's last post reminds me of his "Breowns will make the playoffs" thread last year...so much fail in such a short post.

Was that last year or the year before?

I wasn't a fan of production 4 tds over 4 years in Cinncy. I was a big time Julian Edleman pimp.

The issue there was the way he was used though. He was a chain mover, and never got looks in the RZ.

As a Bengals fan Hawkins was a steal for you guys. I would have been mad the Bengals let him walk if we didn't have AJ, Sanu, Jones, and Sanzenbacher. Hawkins has a way of getting open making the catch and then finding space for yards after the catch. He is a small red zone target but great for the other 80 yards of the field.

I don't know if this has been said yet, those of you talking about Johnny Football not starting:

We do NOT win that game last Sunday if he is the starting QB. Our defense, played out of their minds. Shutting down a New Orleans offense to under 25 is a win ANY week in the NFL. What we needed this past Sunday, was a person to not make the mistake, to not turn the ball over, to NOT give one away. Hoyer did just that. Were all of his throws accurate, nope...but I feel a few of those were on his WR's. Unfortunately for Hoyer, he had to split some reps this pre season, they are still working chemistry issues out.

That being said, he led the team on a HUGE drive to WIN a game, instead of a 4th and 6 pass falling incomplete, he hit a perfect pass to convert, and he hit the open receiver on a blown coverage.

Hoyer is the Browns QB, he is living the dream, and will he have a BAD game, every NFL QB has....but.....his track record so far says he is the leader of this team.

Holding the Saints to under 25 on the road isn't anything special. I agree with pretty much everything else though.

Has hoyer turned the ball over yet this year?
