Special Team players in all levels of football.

Ironman92High school, college, NFL.....are the players too amped up? Trying to impress to become a starter?
What is it? Play after play after play just seems bone-headed. Perplexing blocks in the back, needless holds, getting in each other's way trying to down the ball, running balls back 9 yards into the end zone, running past the play trying to bury the returner. Endless. I think the Steelers/Browns game had 8 or 9 special team penalties.
Can Frank Beamer do an instructional video? -
HereticI think that because rules changes were made to take the focus off kickoffs, when guys have a chance to return one, they get too amp'd up to make a difference because there are less chances to do so on special teams now. I think that also causes guys to return at stupid times. Both Pittsburgh and Cleveland had one time where a guy fielded the ball near the back of the end zone and fucking took it out...ending up down at around the 10-15.

Both were 8 or 9 deep and I think both made it to around the 10.Heretic;1651812 wrote:I think that because rules changes were made to take the focus off kickoffs, when guys have a chance to return one, they get too amp'd up to make a difference because there are less chances to do so on special teams now. How about some damn rules.
Rule #1....with the lead never bring it out from beyond 5 deep....sorry just kneel. -
sportchamppsI hate players who commit a block in the back on the gunner. About 3/4 of the time those are called the block doesn't even matter

Pretty much. My football coach would label this as being selfish. He would truly make you feel like shit for these type of selfish penalties and harming the team. I wish NFL coaches did the same.Ironman92;1651842 wrote:Undisciplined....feel they have to do something -

It's just hard to believe they don't...a lot of them are nut jobs frantically scurrying around the sidelines....I feel like those that ass it up could switch places with the practice squad guys. I think they might become more disciplined that way.like_that;1651849 wrote:Pretty much. My football coach would label this as being selfish. and most ST players are young and inexperienced for the most part and add that to trying to do anything possible to impress the coaches andyou get what you see.....bad moves.
The browns guy who took it from 9 yards deep..that was even a high kickoff. Didnt see the steelers one as I was getting something to drink I think
