Indians @ Chicago....washing the White Sox
-
HitsRusThe Tribe is in the Windy City to take on the ChiSox, in the last 3 games against teams below .500. The Tribe went 4-2 against the Twinkies and Stro's, and needs AT LEAST a series win here.
T.J. House takes on Quintana in the lid lifter.
Corey Kluber faces Noesi in the middle game.
Carlos Carrasco will finish the series against John Danks.
The Tribe has acquired Chris Gimenez from the Rangers for future considerations...to back up Roberto Perez until Yan Gomes comes back...(on the 7 day concussion DL) -
TBone14These 3 are big with a weekend series at KC without Kluber pitching and then the Tigers coming to town next week. Losing this series heading into those would be disastrous. Have to win 2 of 3 here first and then deal with Royals and Tigers.
-
MulvaIndians haven't been more than 3 games above .500 all season. Wouldn't have guessed that, even as much as this season has seemed to be a constant swim upstream.

-
Laley23Ill take 2/3. If they go .666 the rest of the way, they will catch the Tigers and the Mariners. Not even thinking of the Division.
-
MulvaI would say 20-13 to have any shot. Good news is we get 7 with Detroit, and Seattle plays half of their remaining games against the 3 best teams in baseball (7 with LAA, 6 with Oakland, 3 with WAS).
-
HitsRustoo many teams in this thing...you are going to need to win more than 20 finishing out. Any kind of a losing streak will be fatal.
22 wins will give them 90 for the season...that'll be 50-50 to make the playoffs. -
vball10setNot enough gas in the tank to make the playoffs, so let's just enjoy whatever they're able to give us.... GO BUCKS, er, I mean, GO TRIBE!!!

I agree. But it is very refreshing to see a team NOT quit down the stretch (at least yet lol). 2 years in a row, with last year being a WC berth. Not something we are accustomed to.vball10set;1647502 wrote:Not enough gas in the tank to make the playoffs, so let's just enjoy whatever they're able to give us.... GO BUCKS, er, I mean, GO TRIBE!!!
And this team has had every reason to...injuries have been non-stop. Your "Ace" sucked and was traded. One of your "Core" has struggled MIGHTILY. Etc, etc, etc. But, through it all, they are sitting 4 games out with a chance to seriously make a push. I dont think it will happen, but couldnt be happier to be in this position. -

speaking of former "aces"... Masterson was lit up again and took an early exit.....has like a 7.89 ERA with the Cards.Your "Ace" sucked and was traded. One of your "Core" has struggled MIGHTILY. Ubaldo was dropped from the starting rotation and banished to the Orioles bullpen. -
FootwedgeTribe has been winning games not started by Carrasco and Kluber lately. A pleasant surprise and a reason to clasp onto a reason to believe. The offense is still suspect though and I just don't see a huge push like last year.Tito continues to be one the most popular head coaches/managers in Cleveland sports history. Having a winning record with people like Ramirez, Holt, Walters etc is quite remarkable. Also a tip of the cap to M. Callaway, who for the second straight year has turned a pile of no names into a pretty good pitching staff.
-
TBone14Neither pitcher sharp early. 4-2 Tribe in the 2nd. First to 10 tonight.
-
Laley23Tribe takes care of business, they will catch (or be in a dead heat with) Tigers or Yankees after this series, as they play each other.
-
TBone14Great job by Scrabble and Atchison in the 6th after Lee got them into a jam.
-
TBone14The fact that the Tribe are in the race at all with Kipnis hitting .250 with 6 HR and 39 RBI is impressive. He had to have close to that by the All Star break last year.

He had way over that, I would imagine...TBone14;1647836 wrote:The fact that the Tribe are in the race at all with Kipnis hitting .250 with 6 HR and 39 RBI is impressive. He had to have close to that by the All Star break last year. -
TBone14Royals walk off with a 2 run homer by Gordon off of Perkins to win 2-1. KC magical run continues.
-
FootwedgeHuge game to win...I guess they all are at this point. A chance to hit the high water mark of 4 games over with Kluber and Carrasco on deck. American league appx. 20 above 500 making it tougher to make the post season.

Crimson streakWalters has been so clutch
-
Laley23Walters has now homered twice in extras after failing to get a bunt down twice?? Or was it Holt the 1st time?
Either way, Walters for Asdrubal is the best trade Tribe has ever made lol -
Laley23Bryan Shaw for the 8th, 9th AND 10th?? After an off-day yesterday? Wow.
I mean, give the pen an extra day off with 30 in 30 I guess, but this is crazy!! -
Crimson streak
He did only throw 29 pitches though. So I'm ok with it and Allen needed an extra day of rest with throwing 71 pitches the previous 3 games.Laley23;1647863 wrote:Bryan Shaw for the 8th, 9th AND 10th?? After an off-day yesterday? Wow.

FootwedgeI think the tribe will need 90 wins to get in. That's close to 700 ball coming in. They did it last year. The sweep of the Sox is very possible...pitching matchups are great. The match ups for the Royal series is not all that favorable. In order to make a run, Salazar and Bauer have to step wayyy up.
-
HitsRus^^that's true. We should win with Kluber and Carrasco pitching, but against KC , if we are catching the front end of their rotation, we could be in trouble.
