So can a lot of the roster. I think they are good on utility players.Crimson streak;1640523 wrote:He can play 2nd, 3rd and lf. Can play a lot of positions. -

Yes, lately he does suck. Big time.TBone14;1640562 wrote:I think we have covered that Shaw doesn't suck. The guy leads the Majors in appearances... unfortunately he can't get it down every night. Nobody can. -

The rich get richer. Why can't the Tribe ever pull off a robbery of a trade like this one?Con_Alma;1640503 wrote:Tigers pick up David Price from Tampa Bay. -

Lately? Big time? Look at the numbers.vball10set;1640589 wrote:Yes, lately he does suck. Big time.
He pitched 13 times in July, which even with the All-Star break, is more than he pitched in June. He had to have a light month in June because of an unbelievable work load in April and May. 10 of those appearances he was flawless, holding the team scoreless. He allowed runs in 3 appearances, 5 runs total for the month. He gave up 2 in a game on July 13th that the Tribe ended up winning anyway and then the solo homer to the Twins on July 21 and the 2 run homer last night.
The guy pitches late in the game, with the score tied or with us ahead, so obviously when he screws up it is magnified. When he gets it done, nobody says, "Man, Shaw did another good job tonight." I don't understand why he is scapegoat? -
vball10setHe pitches one or two innings, so "unbelievable workload" is bs. He's a short reliever who's been struggling mightily of late, and I think he'd be the first guy to say it. This is the nature of a middle relief guy, so being the "scapegoat" is in his job description...btw, are you related to Shaw somehow?

I am not related to Shaw. Just pointing out the guy gave up 5 runs in the month for a total ERA of 3.55. Basically, he made a couple of mistakes and 2 guys hit home runs. He isn't walking a bunch of people or getting hit all over the yard. He is 2 pitches away from only giving up 2 runs all month in 13 appearances. In fact, prior to the solo home run he gave up to the Twins, many, include me thought the pitch before was strike 3 and would have been out of the inning.vball10set;1640639 wrote:He pitches one or two innings, so "unbelievable workload" is bs. Now, this is baseball and that is breaks. Umps miss calls, he didn't make those two pitches. He is responsible and should be held accountable for those mistakes. I am not giving him a pass but a total ERA of 3.55 over a month is not as bad as you guys are making it out. No middle/late reliever is 100%. Would you rather have Axford out there? -

HitsRusI'm not really down on Shaw...it's just that he has made a couple of mistakes in key situations lately.
As far as Axford...he shouldn't be put into any game that is winnable unless we have an unsurmountable lead. -

That is pretty funny.

I just can't get past that ballyhoo at the beginning of the season by the front office holding the contest for fans to pick Axford's entrance song. Pah.HitsRus;1640700 wrote:

HitsRus^^^ that's funny when you think of it.
