Reds @ Yanks game 1

SportsAndLadySeries win would be nice.

-
Ironman92Just in time! I was worried you were over at thevoice's house
-
Ironman92....also worried about this little park, Leake needing a good game and a Yankees past their prime lineup compiling over 15,200 career hits
-
Azubuike24Price is so stupid for not rearranging the rotation from best to worst out of the break. He chooses to throw Cueto Sunday, and won't pitch him against the Brewers. Why not go Cueto, Latos, Simon, Leake, Bailey?
-
Ironman92Cueto has a huge number of innings and not many at all last year. Latos and Bailey had to leave early their last starts....Bailey still feeling it. Latos probably fine but being cautious.
Need 6 inn and 3 ER from Leake but I'm highly doubting that -
Azubuike24So you're saying they are babying Cueto? What does his innings this year and lack thereof last year have to do with starting him Sunday and not tonight? Maybe they should just shut him down for a few weeks. Face it. It's political. Or Price isn't that smart. Every team starts their best starter coming out of their break.
-
Ironman92Great pitch to Jeter

How the fuck is it political? LolAzubuike24;1637266 wrote:So you're saying they are babying Cueto? Ironman92Gameday showed 3 pitches to Tex as strikes and ump called all balls....run ensued
-
SportsAndLadyInstead of pitching today he'll pitch Sunday lol who gives a shit?
-
Ironman92Look thru today's starters across the league and try to backup your claim lol
-
mhs95_06Called strikes on Frazier, but better pitches are not to Tex -- need electronic strikes to make it fair. Tennis does it wonderfully!
-
Azubuike24Political meaning trying to act like all starters are "equal." They aren't. Leake is a 4 ERA pitcher who is almost guaranteed to allow 3-4 runs a start.
Strasburg
Liriano
Shields
Bumgarner
Darvish
Samardizija
I'm also excluding guys who threw in the All Star Game on Tuesday, who wouldn't be pitching tonight. Then, you have other teams who don't have a true ace.
Cueto is one of the top 5 pitchers in the MLB. He's a huge step above any other Reds starter. He's going to MISS the Milwaukee series, against the team you're chasing.
My point is valid. -
mhs95_06That tag on Bruce bailed McCann out. Didn't the Reds run rings around McCann at the end in Atlanta? Isn't defense the reason the Braves let him walk?
-
Azubuike24
That was my point, but Ironman pointed out his excessive innings? Why wouldn't you schedule Cueto for the Brewers series? Heck, if anything, throw Latos Sunday and Cueto against the Brewers. Those head to head games are critical...and you will be throwing only 1 of your top 3 starters (statistically).SportsAndLady;1637272 wrote:Instead of pitching today he'll pitch Sunday lol who gives a shit? -
mhs95_06Leake gives up another run going thru Tex, McCann, Beltran, Ichiro. I blame the first run on the ump, and the 2nd on Frazier to npt have Leake to get to that part of the order with 2 on and no out.
-
mhs95_06Gardner looking at the same time for the bag and the ball coming for an easy double play and getting no outs, and the Jeter error due to Meso running hard, put the Reds in prime position to really hurt them and all they could get was one run because Bruce and Ludwick can't catch up with the 91 mph fastball like Billy can't either. They wouldn't even have gotten one run that inning had Bruce not had at least a productive out!
-
RotinajWell hopefully Cueto, Simon, and Latos can carry us to the playoffs because I have absolutely ZERO faith in Leake and Bailey. In 1 more start Leake has given up 36 more hits than Simon. LOL.
-
Azubuike24
In an era where a high 3 ERA is average now (pitching has dominated more and more every year for the last 5), Leak is a 5th starter. He's solid if you have him for his pre-contract years, but he's not a guy I'd ever consider giving a long-term contract. He can easily be replaced if you have any semblance of a decent minor league system.Rotinaj;1637290 wrote:Well hopefully Cueto, Simon, and Latos can carry us to the playoffs because I have absolutely ZERO faith in Leake and Bailey. I read before the break at some point that Leake's "people" were looking at Homer Bailey's numbers to prepare their potential contract demands. That brought the laughs. -
Ironman922 shit runs....one on the ump not ringing up Tex 2 diff times on same AB and then Frazier's non-play.
I watch every game and overall the Reds defense is very good....it often seems somewhat lackluster in about 1/2 of Leake's starts. -
Azubuike24Tonight, the Reds didn't deserve to win. Leake actually wasn't bad. Just wasn't good enough, which is usually a theme. It's going to take a rally. May be easier to hit Robertson though...

So there are 120 better starters in MLB?Azubuike24;1637298 wrote:In an era where a high 3 ERA is average now (pitching has dominated more and more every year for the last 5), Leak is a 5th starter. Azubuike24Maybe not 120, but probably 70-80, and considering the talented arms the Reds have "ahead" of him and the marginal cost it would take to replace his rotation spot, it's not worth re-signing him. Especially if he's demanding a contract more than 9-10M a year...
I mean, look at what guys like Edwin Jackson and Ervin Santana got? 11 and 12M a year respectively...both older. -
Azubuike24AKA, let teams who are deficient at developing arms overpay for him.
