Milwaukee at Cincinnati on July 4th

I haven't tracked thread starter records in a bit. Eventually I'll go back and do it.

I also hate this team. Maybe getting swept this weekend by the Brewers will finally put the sick dog to sleep.

Hopefully Devin Mesoraco and Billy Hamilton play every inning because they are the only players who can hit right now.

    Reds lose. Probably like 5-1.

BP's heel still bothering him, but he looked better on that play to his right on the lead-off hitter.

Votto should have saved Simon from the error and would have gotten the pick-off out.

I'm 17-11 playing by the rules

Best thing about Billy hitting away rather than bunting with Simon on 1st was that Simon got around the bases with no pressure to run hard.

After Frazier rips one into the LCF for a double with one out, it was disappointing that he didn't get to 3rd on the fly to right by Votto. When I saw it go out there I thought he would, but he didn't try. Then the inning died with no further threat with #3 and #4 at the plate.

Pitcher's "best friend" rears its ugly head for the Brewers when they most didn't need it in the 4th when they needed to answer the Reds runs, and had their lead-off hitter on. The first 3 innings they didn't get the lead-off hitter on, but yet managed to get a runner into scoring position each inning, even to 3rd with another runner on in the 3rd.

Gomez tried to rob a HR from Meso, like he's prone to do against the Reds. However Meso's drive was just short of being of HR distance and height, which left Gomez to high and it hit off the heel of the glove for a double and he scored on Skip's double off the wall to RF.

Billy with a good play to catch Braun's drive to RCF leading off the 8th. He thought he was closer to the wall than he thought and his left leg was going to cushion the blow with the padded wall. But the foot came down before he got to the wall leaving his body to take the contact. I hope it didn't shake him up too badly. That was the catalyst for Simon to get thru the 6th 1,2,3 on 7 pitches and 73 total.

So with Lohse going out after 5 down 4-0, the Reds get to hit off the lower tier of Milw relievers for 3 innings. Ought to be worth some add-on runs. Wouldn't it with Reds lower tier(think back to Tue - 4 runs in 2 IP off Ondruzek, Hoover, and Contreras)!

Billy needs to take sliding lessons from Skip! If Billy could slide to the outside of the bag like that, he'd have a couple more SBs and a couple less CSs. Saved Skip a CS!

Big 3rd out there for Simon and the Reds. If they don't get an out there, the lead run is on base with Braun, Lucroy, and Gomez next. Now if you can get thru them in the 8th with little damage, its the bottom of the order in the 9th.

"good" doesn't give it justice because I don't believe 3 other CF catch that ball.

Honestly, Votto's reaction after his swing looks just like my 82 year old grandma's face leading up to needing knee surgery

Yeah it's pretty ugly right now.

Frazier out stretching. He should know the Reds getting a runner on 2nd with no outs kills the inning for the Reds! No use taking a chance to get to 2nd.

They say it won't get better this season, but has anyone heard if the prospects for it being healed up for next year are good?

I'd say 1 run and 4 batters counts as "little damage" in the 8th and sets Chapman up for 6,7,8,9 in the 9th. Reds are in trouble if Milw gets to the top of their order unless they can get some insurance runs.
  • mhs95_06
Will the Reds double switch with Heisey and Chapman in for Broxton and Skip?
  • mhs95_06
How many pinch hitters will Milw put up and what spot in the order will be the first to be hit for?
  • mhs95_06
Fastball at the perfect height to K Reynolds, close the game, and keep the streak alive at 36, and knock a game off the Brewers' lead.
