World Cup 2014

DeyDurkie5I would like him to get more than 10 minutes as a sub. Maybe come in at 70 instead
-
Midstate01I like him for about 20-25 minutes as well. Seems like when he's in there things happen on the outside.
-
Laley23DO NOT start Yedlin. Bring him on in the 60' if needed, but probably the 70'-75'.
We are extremely successful right now with our midfield (Zusi/Bedoya, Bradley and Jones). You shouldnt put Yedlin in for any of them at the start. He has too much to learn and would kill the shape of our team, imo. -
OSHNo real need to change anything up in the MF. It'd be nice to get Bradley playing like he should, again. I supported the decision to start Gonzalez instead of Cameron (who had a howler of a match against Portugal). It will be interesting to see what happens when Jozy gets back healthy.

You think he will be back for Belgium?OSH;1630590 wrote:No real need to change anything up in the MF. It'd be nice to get Bradley playing like he should, again. I saw him on the bench today...he didn't look to fragile moving around rather quickly. A real bad hamstring wouldn't allow someone to move like he was. He was only in street clothes, but still...moved rather smoothly.Laley23;1630657 wrote:You think he will be back for Belgium?
Jurgen said Jozy could be back. I don't know if he'll start, but if something ends up happening bad during the game...we could see him. Personally, I don't think Jozy has THAT much impact on a game. He needs service to succeed, that's how he went on his goal scoring streak. There has been very little service from MID to FWD these World Cup matches. I would be they are hoping and trying to get him healthy though, always nice to have another option. On Tuesday, that'd be 15 days from injury...surely, there's good chance he's healthy. -
Laley23I want him to play because I think HE can provide service. Dempsey, imo, is better running onto the ball in the are when someone lays it off for him. I dont think he is nearly as effective when he is the one checking back or making runs over the top to get the ball. I like when Jozy checks back and is able to lay it off to Dempsey and Bradley running onto it. I think our attack is at its best when that is happening.

We gotta have our MIDs get the ball to the FWDs though. As much as they have been coughing up the ball, I'm not sure they can get Jozy the ball. Hopefully, and surely, the slump will expire soon!Laley23;1630677 wrote:I want him to play because I think HE can provide service. I haven't liked how Jozy has been playing. I don't see much activity from him. I have thought he's only worth running onto a ball that's played in a direction to him. I don't like a lot of his movement -- but, I also don't like a 2 FWD system. I haven't seen too many 2 American FWDs who can work together, like they should, in a system like that. Most of the time, their movement isn't together like it should be. Jozy is part of that problem, to me. He fell out of favor at Sunderland because of his lack of productivity. But...I root for him. I want him to do good. I just get bummed when I see his movement and seemingly low soccer IQ. -

MulvaRandom thoughts... Costa Rica - Greece might be the worst knockout stage match up in World Cup history. Unless they completely fall apart, Netherlands basically has a walk to the semis. Kind of disappointed that 4 South American teams got drawn against each other.
Definitely not expecting a win against Belgium, but I think we'll be competitive. -
Pick6good points regarding Yedlin. Maybe not ready to start (im biased in wanting him obv), but like others have said, he definitely needs more than 10 minutes. Good things happen when he gets out there.

Coulter went full retard -
Fly4FunWow... I hope she gets torn apart for her comments. Moral decay because of soccer? No one with a grandfather born here would like soccer?
She's either lost it or trolling hard. -
Mohican00The sad thing isn't what she wrote but how many people are talking about it (which is exactly what she wanted)

Laley23What would the USMNT look like if we still had this guy as an option (Charlie Davies)??

Man it crazy to think what could have been in 2010 if Davies never had that terrible wreck.Laley23;1631024 wrote:What would the USMNT look like if we still had this guy as an option (Charlie Davies)??

For this WC it would be even more amazing to have him especially with Jozy now out. -

Sad. He was such a beast.Laley23;1631024 wrote:What would the USMNT look like if we still had this guy as an option (Charlie Davies)??

AutomatikDamn, completely forgot about him. Loved watching him play. I remember that Confed Cup well. Looking like we were completely out it to being up on 2-0 to Brazil in the final....then the collapse.
-
AutomatikJust finished. That was a tough read.
I didn't know he hopped in a car with two random chicks -
gorocks99Charlie Davies circa 2010 + Deandre Yedlin circa 2014 = awesome.

Laley23It was a pretty sad (but well written) piece.
He is probably the best striker we have had, ever. I mean, its literally impossible to say that since we never truly got to see him play for any kind of extended time. But, he was a freaking beast for the USMNT. I really think with his power and pace to go along with his footskills and finishing ability he could have made serious noise in Europe. Such a shame. -
GOONx19I loved Charlie Davies. I'm not much of a soccer follower by any means, but he was the one dude I always got excited to watch.
