Tribe @ Rockies (Series Thread)

Laley23Tribe try to get back to winning ways with this inter-league series at the Jake.
Kipnis made his return to the club on Wednesday, but it didnt matter. Hopefully he gets it going to add another bat for Brantley, the Tribes sole threat at the moment. -

TBone14Just about exactly 4 months of baseball left. They have been playing well at home, hopefully that continues this weekend.
Rockies have been trending downwards of late, so a good chance to catch them. -
HitsRuswith our Ace( Kluber): thumbup: going today....better win this one. It would be really nice if Aguilar can get comfortable up here..... Need another power bat in the lineup.

We also need Justin Masterson to perform like we expected him to do....if for no other reason than to fetch a decent prospect or two if (when?) we throw the towel in early this year.Just about exactly 4 months of baseball left. -

BR1986FBEvery time I see "Tribe vs Rockies" it makes me sick to my stomach of what should have been (2007).

Sadly, those are my initial thoughts as well.BR1986FB;1621005 wrote:Every time I see "Tribe vs Rockies" it makes me sick to my stomach of what should have been (2007). -

But if you want a laugh, it can also remind of you FW's complete stupidity regarding Ubaldo, Pomeranz, and percentiles.
(and yes '07 is my first thought as well, F*CK YOU BOSTON) -

He isnt just our Ace...he may very well be a top 10 pitcher in baseball. And I am not just talking about this years sample size.HitsRus;1620946 wrote:with our Ace( Kluber): thumbup: going today....better win this one. Pomeranz is actually coming around with the A's this year.lhslep134;1621011 wrote:But if you want a laugh, it can also remind of you FW's complete stupidity regarding Ubaldo, Pomeranz, and percentiles.

He's 4-2 with a 1.38 era so far. -
vball10setDruby, you have move that runner over, not strike out flailing at an outside riser...smh

I'm aware. It's also irrelevant to the debate because he's not doing it for the team that traded for himIggyPride00;1621038 wrote:Pomeranz is actually coming around with the A's this year.

He would still be on the Tribe right? IE, his arbitration years are still going?lhslep134;1621072 wrote:I'm aware. It's also irrelevant to the debate because he's not doing it for the team that traded for him -

I'm not positive how it works once you've been released after a trade.Laley23;1621096 wrote:He would still be on the Tribe right? IE, his arbitration years are still going? -

Well, I mean if we had never traded him? How many years would we still have him for?lhslep134;1621122 wrote:I'm not positive how it works once you've been released after a trade. -

This year and next I believe. So I guess not technically irrelevant, but moot in regards to the Rockies' trade haul.Laley23;1621128 wrote:Well, I mean if we had never traded him? How many years would we still have him for? -

Thanks.lhslep134;1621132 wrote:This year and next I believe. So I guess not technically irrelevant, but moot in regards to the Rockies' trade haul.
I was slightly against the trade because I thought Ubaldo was garbage and we shouldve gotten more for what we gave up. But, it definitely worked in our favor. -
vball10setW....Kluber's a stud.

I was indifferent at the time, and then I read that article from yahoo about the numbers and pitching prospects so then I basically just became a defender against the crazies (ie footwedge) and it spiraled into his whole misunderstanding of mathematics. I still didn't really care one way or another.Laley23;1621137 wrote:Thanks.

Yeah it worked out more so for us, but at the end of the day it was just a shitty trade for both teams, just more shitty for COL. Although if you place a lot of value on playoff appearances we came out huge in that trade because Ubaldo was one of the main reasons we made it last year. -
lhslep134I still look at it as a disappointment in the sense I always felt we could have gotten someone better for a trade involving Pomeranz and/or White.
-
Laley23
Exactly. I am all for trading prospects if its gonna help your team make a playoff push (or in this case, a chance for 3 years)...but, we settled for UJ imo, Pomeranz alone shouldve been enough to get more lol.lhslep134;1621212 wrote:I still look at it as a disappointment in the sense I always felt we could have gotten someone better for a trade involving Pomeranz and/or White.
Its like the Tribe felt bad for raping the Brewers in the CC (despite LaPorta sucking, that was a trade rape, imo) deal and have tanked on some trades since to make up for it. -
