Tribe vs. Angels...the West Coast trip continues.
-
HitsRusAll teams go thru losing streaks, and after a successful series against KC, our Wahoos have dropped three straight out west against the Giants. The team scored a pitiful 5 runs in 3 games....and only 1 run today against a pitcher with a 7+ E.R.A.
The mark of a playoff team is that is keeps its losing streaks short....and extends its winning streaks, so the pressure is on to end the skid in L.A.
Justin Masterson will look for his first win of the year against Tyler Skaggs(2-0, 3.21 ERA) Monday nite.
Carlos Santana is in a slump of historical proportions....3 for his last 58....Ouch!....and the question is how long will Francona start him in the 4th spot of the batting order.
The Tribe is now all alone in last place....3 games out.
Game #2 Kluber vs Weaver
game #3 Carrasco vs. Wilson -
HitsRusJust how bad is Santana's slump????....Well, It could get worse.
All Star SS Luis Aparicio endured a 0-44 slump....Robin Ventura went 0 for 41....and even Derek Jeter went 0-32 at one point in his career....batting .189 after 190 at bats. -
GOONx19Go Tribe.
-
Glory DaysI am bummed. forgot to look at the schedule before the season started so I didn't get tickets for this series. Good thing is they will be back later to play the Dodgers.
-
vball10set4-6 hitters went 0 for 29 against the Giants...we need production there, from anybody, if we're to have a chance against the Angels....GO TRIBE!!!
-
TBone14Before this trip, I would have signed up for 3-3 and gotten the hell out of there. It seems the Tribe never play well on the west coast.
Anything but another sweep. We need to win a Masterson start tonight but then Kluber/Weaver is a tough matchup and you can forget about winning a getaway day game Carrasco vs Wilson. -
HitsRusI'll take a series win here.....2-4 road trip wouldn't be too bad. Masterson is still 0-0...If he is the true ACE we hope for and the ACE that he expects to be paid for,... he'll step up and break the losing streak.
-
HitsRusWith the lefty Skaggs going for the Angels tonite, the Tribe will go with the RH hitters....Raburn in right, Aviles at 3rd, and of course Carlos Santana...still in the 4 hole.

Don't think Tito's doing Santana any favors here, but what do I know.HitsRus;1610313 wrote:With the lefty Skaggs going for the Angels tonite, the Tribe will go with the RH hitters....Raburn in right, Aviles at 3rd, and of course Carlos Santana...still in the 4 hole. -
Laley23Bourn gets tremendous jumps/reads off the bat, but he does some dumb fucking shit in CF. How can you let that ball get by you?

FootwedgeIn the lineup tonight
Swish 216
Kip 244
Santana buck twenty
Raburn a buck eighty
Aviles 233
How has this team won 11 out of 25 games with those numbers? -
Laley23What are Swisher and Kipnis hitting their last 10 games? I bet its pretty good. They have both been pretty swinging it better.
Its a long season, if you continue to harp on season numbers, you will never be happy. Santana is NEVER going to hit .300 after this start, but if he hits .250, that means he is around .300 the rest of the way. But we will still have people saying why is Santana still hitting so high at .250???
EDIT: Those are all numbers without any math behind them, but I think my point is clear lol. -
Laley23Just looked, over the last 10 games (not including tonight) Swisher is hitting exactly .300 with 6 2Bs in the last 8. Kipnis is hitting .297 with Santana for protection. He has 4 XBH and 5 BBs in that span as well.
-
MulvaBatting average is a terrible stat to look at anyway. Santana is a career .248 hitter.
-
Laley23Also just did some rough math on Santana. He is currently (not counting tonight) 10/103. Assuming he gets about 525 ABs (552, 507 and 541 the last 3 years) this year he would need to hit .287 the rest of the way to get to .250. Everyone would take a 4-hole hitter on this team hitting .287 (especially since he has the most power), yet, we will hear the complaints all year about a 4-hole guy hitting .210, .220, .230, etc. on his climb back to .250.
At this point, with the slow starts, its a waste to talk about season numbers. Give me what they are doing over the last week or 2 weeks, and eventually the last month, etc. -
Laley23
This is also true, especially in his case, since he walks so much. But, that wasnt my point anyway. It gets annoying when people point to season averages ignoring the fact Swisher has been on fire for over a week now lolMulva;1610359 wrote:Batting average is a terrible stat to look at anyway. MulvaIt is sad that Santana is considered the best power hitter on the team, though. He's a 20 home run guy.

This is true.Mulva;1610362 wrote:It is sad that Santana is considered the best power hitter on the team, though. He's a 20 home run guy. -
HitsRusLOL...we talk shit about Santana and he hits a 3 run bomb to give the Tribe the lead......
-
MulvaMasterson given way too long of a leash tonight. Going to need some 9th inning magic.
-
Laley23Fuck our defense.

Con_AlmaFrancona post game stated that Carrasco is no longer in the rotation and that McAllister will start Wednesday on short rest.
-
IggyPride00Fuck the Dolans.
This team freaking sucks.
It is built around pitching and defense and we have neither.
Our best freaking pitcher right now is pitching in Atlanta for peanuts leading the majors in ERA while Carasco is kicked out of the rotation because he sucks.
This defense is abysmal and it literally has cost us games. No small feat these days.
The Dolan's will get what they deserve this summer when about 6 people are at the games because we are well out of contention. I just feel sorry for the season ticket holders that were duped into believing the Dolan's gave a shit after last years "playoff" run where we were bounced in the play in game.
That family is a pox on the face of the city and I detest them.
