Tribe Prediction thread ...Where will they be in October?
-
HitsRusWell, let's get it down on record. How many wins do you see for the 2014 Indians and predict the Division winner/wild card.
Analysis welcome but not required.....
I see a team that will have a winning record but will fall short of post season.
While the Tigers were addressing their weaknesses (team speed and defense), the Tribe spent the off season trying to replace the players it lost in free agency with low cost options. Poised on a window of opportunity the owner chose to close his wallet rather than spend a little extra to push this team over the top. The team lost Kazmir, Jimenez and Smith who were stalwarts in the wild card drive. They jettisoned the fastest guy on the team (Stubbs) and replaced him with a reclamation project. Essentially, they are relying on growth of young players(Kipnis,Brantley, Kluber, Salazaar,McCallister), and better years for Bourn, Pestano, Cabrerra. Most of the additions were to replace what they lost.
This is still a solid team, but without the stretch drive of last year...I'm predictiing.....
86-76.

Tigers won't own them like they did, but the Tribe won't be able to replicate their other worldly performance against bad teams like last season.
I think the ceiling on wins is in the mid 80's, but the floor could be as low as 70. They actually had great health last year and the staff was reasonably healthy, but this year they are counting on some kids (Salazaar) to take a huge leap in innings and that is usually a recipe for a dead arm or injury.
There is little depth at this point, so a major injury in the rotation could be a real problem.
I think Axford will regain form and pan out which will make him feel like a bargain.
I could see if things start slow and Masterson pitches well there being a real debate about whether to move him or not as he will clearly be un-signable.
The Tribe has rarely opted to keep a guy through the season they knew was gone, so it will be interesting to see how they manage to deal with Masterson now that they have made clear that even his bargain rate of 3 or so years is too rich for their blood.
I am happy just to have baseball back, but can't help but feel this year would have a ton more interest if it felt like they were going all in to try and capitalize on last years momentum. -
Laley23I think this offense is going to be really good, top to bottom. Pitching will be streaky. Masterson should be good almost everytime out, but Salazar, ZMac and Kluber will be lights out for a stretch and then bad for a stretch, I think. Pretty optimistic in the bullpen. Axford cant be any worse than Perez. Losing Smith hurts, but Allen should continue to improve and Pestano could regain form. It will be nice to have scrabble there all year, we lost a lot of games early with our lefties sucking. The biggest lose no one is talking about is Matt Albers.
At the end of the year, Ill be disappointed if they are not in the race.
86-76
Id have to really study more teams to predict the WC/division winners. But I would have to believe 86 wins would put us right there where we were last season, but avoiding the 1 game play-in would be nice. -

lhslep134I think it will come down to the last 1.5 weeks of the season for the Tribe to make one of the last wildcard spots. How we do in those last 10 games will determine our fate (sort of like last year).

like_thatI predict we will see a lot of doom and gloom from iggy.

Yeah, predicting a winning season really ranks right up there with saying the team would go 62-100.like_that;1599411 wrote:I predict we will see a lot of doom and gloom from iggy.
When did it become a happy thing seeing our stud ace pitcher throw 7 scoreless on opening night but at the same time be told by ownership he needs to buzz off after this season.
Take your doom and gloom somewhere else. This thread is for Tribe fans, trolls are not welcome. -

I am a tribe fan. I would like to discuss the tribe and their season instead of seeing you be a crybaby bitch about Dolan every post.IggyPride00;1599414 wrote:Yeah, predicting a winning season really ranks right up there with saying the team would go 62-100.

"Oh the tribe won, but Dolan is a cheap blah blah blah."
We get it, just stfu. I don't think anyone here likes Dolan, no need to bitch about him every chance you get. You must love to be miserable. Also almost everything you predict turns out to be wrong (remember when Mack was all but a sure thing to leave Cleveland? LOL). -

death, taxes, and iggy's negativity
If it wasn't for the fact his username indicates St. Ignatius, I'd swear Iggy was one of my friends from back home who can't ever find anything positive to say.
Iggy: we get that you for some reason feel the need to find the inverse of a silver lining in everything, but that doesn't mean you need to post it. I mean Masterson was a stud last night and all you have to say is that ownership is telling him to buzz off after the season?
Can you please just stop the negativity until it's more warranted? -
MulvaI'm going to say 83-79. The rotation after the top 2 worries me.

Exactly my point. Btw I'm on board with most of our predictions. I say 85 wins give or take 5. I can see then playing 500 ball or just enough to make the playoffs. What worries me this year is the royals should be a legitimate team from start to finish.lhslep134;1599471 wrote:We already saw it in his response to your post! LOL!!

Classyposter58I think they'll be in the thick of it and have a leg up as they're in the Central and can beat up on Minny and CWS but I have the Royals and Orioles making the postseason this year. AL is just so damn good, 10 teams have legit shots to be playoff teams this season
-
BRF^^^^ Hopefully, the Tigers suck this year so you will stop posting.
BTW, I will be LOL if the up and coming "predicted" Royals fall flat on their face this season. -

I'll always post on here. But they need Ventura to have a good season and Moustakas, Cain and Escobar can't suck againBRF;1599604 wrote:^^^^ Hopefully, the Tigers suck this year so you will stop posting.

vball10setI'm thinking the 82-85 win range, and I do think they make the playoffs.

I've been hearing for years now that they have this awesome farm system and are only "X" years away. I guess they are bound to bust out at some point, but we have seen this song and dance alot in the past few years.BRF;1599604 wrote:^^^^ Hopefully, the Tigers suck this year so you will stop posting.

Laley23People seen to forget that the Royals started 8-20 last year. After that, they probably were the best team in baseball, record wise, right??

Yes, that's my point. I think they avoid that start this year and become a dangerous team.Laley23;1599641 wrote:People seen to forget that the Royals started 8-20 last year. After that, they probably were the best team in baseball, record wise, right?? -
shook_17right now they are on pace to be 162-0 and I'm thinking thats right. Roll tribe roll
