The last time the #Athletics had a rainout at O.co Coliseum was May 5, 1998 vs. Detroit.

For the sake of consistency (I said something to Iggy about it on the other thread): are you/we (as a collective OC fan base) going to harp on this every time he has a good start?
Given the circumstances, I think it is human nature to bring it up. Masterson is a popular player and might be the most difficult player to replace on the team. I think it is pretty obvious what kind of a pitcher he has developed into...and if I can see it and you can see it, why do we get treated to excuses about why we didn't sign him to a contract. Why do we get back door reasoning like "he's really only a .500 pitcher over the course of his career." As a Tribe fan, it is a sore spot that our best and favorite players are always allowed to walk.

I'll shut up about it as I don't want to be annoying, but I reserve the right to bring it up again.

    Hits,

I agree with having a problem with the situation, I just don't see why it's necessary to harp on it as constantly as it is.

With a double header to play today kluber having a 27 pitch first inning means the bullpen is likely to have a long day.

Masterson was pulled after only 92 on Monday, so unless Kluber starts to find the plate a little more we will be seeing most of our relievers at some point today.

I just had a bad feeling about Kluber this season, and I sure as hell hope I'm wrong.

Aaron Harang threw 6-2/3 innings of 2 hit shut out ball today to get the win for the Braves today.

Figures he wasn't even good enough to make our rotation this spring and he is already paying dividends for another team.
  • IggyPride00
Kluber is going 2-0 on almost every hitter today. Could really use a double play here.

Replay fiasco breaking out in Oakland right now.

Last season, Harang (currently 35 years old and possessing a career stat line that weighs in at "blissfully mediocre") pitched two complete game shutouts. He still finished 5-12 with a 5.20 ERA spaced between two stops. Let's not make too big of a deal out of him debuting this year with a good start, as if he's that one magical missing piece that would get a team over the hump.

There's a chance he regains the form he had during those couple seasons with Cincy where he was pretty decent, but a much better chance that he's a journeyman nearing the end of his career who'll give a good start one week and then get shelled for 6 in 3 innings the next time out.
  • IggyPride00
The bullpen is up already and it's only the 2nd inning.
  • IggyPride00
    Kluber is a bum.

Tito finally put him out of his misery after 3-1/3. The guy was throwing batting practice out there today.

Letting him go irritated me also. Carlos Carrasco for all the great stuff he has....just has no consistency. They could have hedged their bets and started CC in the bullpen to start the season.

    Yes 11-5 with a 3.85 ERA = Bum

    It's early to judge anybody yet...but kazmir....6 IP... 2 hits... 0 BB.
How casually we let him go.

More than anything to me it was that he cost no money to keep around and we have little depth in the rotation. Those are the kind of guys this team can't afford to just cut.

On a side note, Kazmir has looked really good today. I don't know why I'm surprised.

That 2/$22 deal he signed might as well have been 20/$220 because that is how we treated it.
  • BRF
So we lose the first game 6-1.

    Nobody posting.

And we start the night cap down 1-0.
  • GOONx19
    2-0
  • IggyPride00
WTF is wrong with the starting pitching? McCallister is closing in on 30 pitches in the first inning after Kluber had 27 each in his 1st 2 innings today.

Don't they realize that in a double header you can't burn up the bullpen like this?
  • Laley23
Jesus Iggy, it's the 3rd game of the year, chill out. Lol

Haven't scored a run off an Oakland starter yet this series. They have only gotten to the bullpen.

    HR Aviles

Just as I type that Mike Aviles hits a 2 run homer.
