2014 NFL Combine Talk

  • Dr. KnOiTaLL
Figured we might as well start a thread to discuss happenings and numbers at the combine. Most of the measurables have been completed, and nothing has been shocking at this point. Looking forward to some exciting performances!

Gotta love Bortles measureables as an NFL QB.

Buckeye Corey Linsley put up 36 reps on the bench press. Pretty impressive.

The bench press studs rarely amount to anything

Interested to see if Hyde will run a 4.4

True, because those with shorter arms are usually better at the press.

It's a very old school measure....those used muscles don't translate to on the field plays, certainly does not hurt.

Philly Brown just ran an unofficial 4.37

    Any numbers on clowney yet?

Vernon Gholston says you're full of shit. J-E-T-S...jets, jets, jets.

I wish they had time to get a 5 rep max on the lineman (d and o) and linebackers. It's probably more of an accurate representation of what they can do physically. How many time has an OT had to hold off a 225 lb defender 30 times in one play?

Are you trying to make Justin cry?

I'm not watching....what are they using for the "unofficial" times?

I think someone just using a stop watch

In track the stop watch time and the FAT timing....the stop watch is typically around .2 less. Someone knowing what the hell they are doing can get it around a .1 difference

Mike Evans puts up an official 4.53, pretty good number for him.

The standard deviation from FAT to hand time is .24. Nobody can "know what they are doing and get closer.

Yeah....we're all equal on reaction time and timing. I know the "standard" is .24 even though I've only been district track coach of the year once.

Regardless, the kid from Georgia Southern who ran the 4.38 and repped the #225 x 32 (and got 2 taken away) was impressive. They said they weren't even sure which position group to place him with until the day before the combine. Will be an interesting prospect for sure, as he plays QB, RB, CB and ST.

The splits remind me of Matt Jones. Hopefully this guy doesn't also love the snowflakes like MJ did.
