MLB adopts expanded replay ....THIS SEASON!

  A manager starts the game with one challenge and can retain it for a second challenge if he wins the first.....but no more than two challenges a game...up to the 7th inning, after which the crew chief can ask for an official replay review. The reviews will be conducted by a remote central office, NOT the umpiring crew at the game.
  Interesting...very interesting.
  
  One other important note...Replays of close plays WILL be shown at the stadiums where the games are being played and will NOT be blacked out, so the fans at the games can see the replays just as if they were sitting at home.

  It is utterly ridiculous that they can't review the "neighborhood play" in attempting to start double plays at 2nd!
  
  What are they going to do in their quest to reduce collisions?

  ???? what's to review in the 'neighborhood play' ....it 's pretty obvious that is the way it's been called for years...almost an unwritten rule interpretation. it's not that they missed anything.

  I understand why the "neighborhood play" is non-reviewable, and it's your question here. Forcing the player to actually be on 2nd base will cause more injuries.

  Most DP's the guy can still touch second base and get out of the way. SS's get away with it big time, and 2nd basemen usually are closer and touch the base more often.

  I find it funny that they are limiting it to one challenge because of concerns "over pace of the game", but they will allow the manager to go out and argue the call for 10 minutes.

  ^^^well i think if you look at statistics, maybe you get 1 or two calls a game that the manager comes out and an 'extended' arguement ensues...this pretty much takes care of that.

  There really isnt that many big long arguments during the games.
  
  Plus...when they do happen, it is enteraining.
  
  I dont mind the challenge system with only 1 per game.

  The thing that slows down the game is the time some of these guys take in between pitches. It is unreal. They need to police that.
  
  Never a big fan of him but always enjoyed watching Mark Buehrle work. Get the ball...back on the mound and here it comes. Some of these guys are going halfway to 2nd base in between every damn pitch.

  Supposed to be a time limit of which is pretyt long, and they dont enforce it.
  
  Dont forget the hitters who always step way out of the box. Hell, remember casey stepping out and adjusting boht batthing gloves between each pitch.

  Pitch clock. Have someone in the press box reset it every time the pitcher catches the ball. It goes for pitcher and batter. Batter must be on the box with so many seconds on the clock and pitcher must pitch before 0. First is a warning, second is ball (or strike) and finally it becomes a walk (or out) every time after 2.
  
  They implemented this into the NCAA, but it never actually
  made it to the games.
