How much do you watch each sport?
-
Ironman92NFL.....~14-15 hours a week and virtually every second of every postseason game (rarely watch any preseason).......some while on a delay with ability to just watch the plays
NBA.....probably on 2-3 hours a week. I catch a decent number of the last 1/2 of the 4th quarters. Watch a lot of the playoffs once it gets to the 2nd round or deciding game and most all of the finals.
MLB....I'm the biggest moron here. Being it's summer and good weather I will pause the tv for the Reds game and whenI get in will go through the game with the fast forward button for each pitch but even with that I probably watch 25 hours a week. I rarely miss a pitch in the playoffs.
College Football....mainly just OSU and a couple televised Marshall games until baseball is over and as the season goes I watch more and more. Watch all BCS Bowl games and maybe 1/4 of all other bowl games.
College Basketball....really not much until January rolls around but start tuning into the ranked teams until tourney time and watch most of the big ones. A ton of conference tourneys and as much tournament as they show, pretty much every second it's on.
Golf...watch an hour or two of each day of the majors and locked in on Sunday and I'll catch the back 9 on Sunday of probably 8-10 other tournaments.
tl;dgaf.....I watch too much -
Classyposter58Good thread!
#1-Hockey: This isn't even close. NHL GameCenter app has condensed games which are like 20 minutes of every clip in which something happened during the game, so I catch up on a lot of games. Also go to many BGSU games, 4 Wings games a year, and the Toledo Walleye. Plus I watch every Red Wings and Jets game, Winnipeg and their fans are probably the best in sports
#2-Basketball: College only mostly, but don't miss an OSU or MSU game and watch a lot of B1G basketball and other big games
#3-Baseball: DVR all of the Tigers games pretty much which is awesome cause I just FF to every pitch making every game only about an hour
#4- Football: Simply because it's such a short season and such few games it goes here, but watch all OSU and Lions games, as well as the Saturday night game of the week
#5-Golf: Since I golf a lot I catch most tournaments, especially Sundays, and follow Majors heavily
#6-Tennis: Not the biggest fan but watch Wimbledon and French Open quite ardently
#7-Lacrosse: Like college lax a lot actually, love the fact that ESPNU shows so many games -
SonofanumpNCAA Football- 20 hours a week in season, most of the bowl games, 5 hours a week out of season.
Golf- 2-3 hours a week. Majors much more, love Sunday afternoon of The Masters, a tradition like no other.
NFL- About 3 hours a week in season. About half the playoff games.
Baseball-3 to 6 hours a week.
NCAA Basketball- About 4 hours total before conference tourneys start, I'll watch a few conference tourney games and the tourney.
NBA- About 4 hours total a year. I may have met my quota already this year, went to Cavs game with great free tixs earlier this year.
Tennis- Majors only, about 2 hours during that time.
Hockey- Try to get to a game or two during the year, love it in person, hate it on TV.
I have a TV in the office, a lot of time with it on doing paperwork. -
Laley23College Basketball - Probably around 50 hours a week (work pending). I easily watch 2 games a night, which is close to 5 hours. Saturday is noon-2am and I will watch as much as I can, usually equates to 4 games. Tuesday and Thursday I will usually be able to catch 3 games a night.
NFL - 1pm and 4pm games. SNF, MNF and TNF...so the max. Just more condensed to the hours are less.
MLB - Indians. But that equals 3-4 hours a night 6-7 nights a week.
Golf - Every major tournament. Id say thats about 20 weeks a year, and 10 hours during those weeks (dont catch much Th/Fri unless its a Major)
College Football - Usually only Saturday. Usually only the afternoon timeslot, unless there is a good primetime game.
NBA - Ill watch a big game, or the West Coast game on TNT if nothing else is on. But dont live in Pacers market, so dont watch nightly.
NHL - Wings and the Playoffs
Soccer - Would be way higher, but no coverage
Tennis - See above -
reclegend22In order of significance.
College Basketball: Any game that is on, really. Every day of the week. During the winter, it essentially encompasses all I do on the weekends and every evening. As far as Duke games go, every part of my life is planned around them.
College Football: Every Saturday during the fall is devoted to it. I'll watch all the major matchups of the day from noon until Midnight, when the ESPN/ABC game of the week concludes. Unlike basketball, however, I don't schedule my daily activities around it, as I don't have a favorite team, but nonetheless I am a religious follower.
NFL: See above, only substitute Saturday for Sunday. Do not have a favorite team -- though I spent an entire childhood rooting feverishly for the Dolphins and my favorite quarterback, Dan Marino -- but love the sport and never miss a playoff game.
MLB: Every playoff series. Typically never miss a pitch of the particular division or league championship series in which I'm invested. Love baseball in the fall.
Tennis/Golf: I'll group these together since I do not miss either of the sport's premier events, the Majors in golf and the Grand Slams in tennis. I watch as much of each as I possibly can. If I had to offer a viewing favorite, it'd probably be tennis.
NBA: Mostly the playoffs only. The NBA is simply a boring product for the most part during the regular-season. Unlike the 1980s and 1990s, the passion and intensity of the sport on a nightly basis is severely lacking. And, IMO most devastatingly to the NBA, the college-like feel of the League's once great rivalries is simply gone. As players move from one team to another and organizations employ revolving-door lineups year in and year out, there's just no loyalty and continuity and therefore very few rivalries today. Player rivalries suck. So fuck the LeBron-Durant "rivalry." Celtics-Lakers was great because it was Celtics-Lakers, not Magic-Bird. In the '90s and early 2000s, the NBA would've made number two on my list. Then it left NBC and the decline happened quickly. -
said_aouitaNFL - The NFL Sunday ticket is awesome. Watch multiple games at once. No clue how many total hours.
College football - Will watch tOSU 1st then the other B10 teams next and if nothing else is on I'll watch any football game.
Best pre/post game atmosphere of all sports attended is college football.
MLB - My brother and sister in Chicago are Cub fans. My other brother was stationed in St Louis for many years and is a Cardinals fan. I cheer for the Reds when they are playing the Cubs or Cards. I've not been to the new Reds stadium yet but the old one was boring. By a far lead Wrigley Field wins my favorite stadium to attend for a MLB game.
NBA - I've not watched an entire NBA game for probably 20'ish years.
College basketball - Only watch in March during the tourny.
College baseball- Only watch in June during the tourny.
NHL - Use to watch a lot when in college. Good buddy back then was a Redwings fan during the fun days of Paul Coffey, Y-man and Fedorov. I've been to a half dozen or so Blue Jacket games, meh'...
Golf - Usually it's majors only. I've been flipping channels and came across some European PGA tour tournament and watched (for a bit) just because of the course.
Soccer - Occasionally I'll watch the European games (UEFA/FA cup) when they are live on TV, which is usually early AM and on one of the Fox sports channels. I watched the Columbus Crew on tv a few years ago for a few minutes.
* I would much rather play soccer than watch it.
Tennis - If some hot chick who grunts is on, I may watch for a few minutes.
-
HitsRusbaseball....watch about 80% of Tribe games...25% I'm at the 'Jake' and catch most of the others on TV or radio.
football....almost all the Browns games (a little less lately ..ugh!)...and maybe one other game a week.
college football....OSU and maybe one other game a week.
basketball...what's that?....maybe a bit of March madness if the Buckeyes are involved or an occasional Cavs game.
Hockey I;'d follow it more if Cleveland had an NHL team.... I do catch a Monster's game or two at the Q.
Soccer...LOL. you're kidding right?
Golf ....Bits and pieces. would rather play it. -
GoChiefsNASCAR...I don't miss a race. Probably 7 or 8 hours a week of racing programming during the season.
College football...all Michigan games, then whatever games interest me that weekend. As many bowl games that I can.
NFL...most Browns games and other big games that week.
NBA....I try to watch 10-15 Heat games throughout the season. Playoffs, and Finals.
MLB....Probably about 15-20 Reds games I'll watch, then follow most on my phone, computer, etc. Some playoffs and World Series games. -
LJNFL- around 7-8 hours per week
CFB- 15 hours per week
MLB- 0 except chunks of a deciding WS game
NBA- 0
CBB- 4 or so hours per week much more during tournament time
NHL- only on occasion
MLS- 0
UFC-0
NASCAR-0 -
GOONx19NFL - Browns and usually the night game, both Sunday and Monday. Usually Thursday, too.
CFB - When UK has an away game, usually about 6 hours on Saturday. When they have a home game I'm usually too drunk to watch other games very closely.
MLB - About 50% of Indians games, and follow box scores for the rest of the season and teams. Go to all the games in Cincinnati and usually a few in Cleveland. Also watch all of the playoff games.
NBA - Probably 2 games a week, plus the Cavs games whenever I can get them. All of the playoffs. In high school I used to go to about 15 games a year.
CBB - All Kentucky games. A lot of B1G games. Any other game I have time to watch. Probably about 20 hours a week during the regular season.
NHL - 1 or 2 games a week. Watch all the BJs highlights the next day. -
dlazzNFL- I watch to see my fantasy players, but I have little interest by the time playoffs come around. I like to watch Tom Brady, but I don't care if they lose.
College Basketball- here and there. I tend to follow the season but usually won't go out of my way to watch a game until conference championships. I enjoy watching small schools play (Wright State, mostly)
College football- if theres a game on, I'll probably watch it. Easily my most watched sport
NBA- questionable officiating has turned me off. I used to watch a few years ago. Last year I only think I watched a game or two
MLB, NHL, etc- lol, no -
thavoiceNFL=Steelers, and SNF and MNF games. Also wil lflip to the browns/bengals games as well. Playoffs..as much as possible.
MLB= I watch or listen to almost every reds game even if only for a couple of innings. I know baseball, but I dont watch any other games other than the reds. Just not enough time. Even the WS...I try to catch it but the games are so late, and so drawn out.
NHL= when the Pens are on NBCSports I will watch, some CBJ, but make sure to watch alot of the playoffs.
NBA= Never. Pretty much stopped after Jordon got out. Tried to watch at times over the years and just not interested.
CFB= Will watch some. If have nothing to do when OSU is on I will watch some of it. Maybe the Sat night game if it is a biggie. Bowl games.....usually wait until NYD and the big BCS games after that.
CBB=Interest waned for IU when Mike Davis took over. Was just very hard to watch. Then the sanctions...and shit..not on the upswing. I try to catch as much as I can but havent made a big time effort to make sure i watch. -
ernest_t_bassI watch more pr0n than sports.
-
sportchamppsNFL - as many games as possible so usually TNF 1 and 4 games SNF and MNF
Colllege Football - every OSU Game and 90% of the big matchups not during osu games
College Basketball - 90% of OSU games 25- 50% of North Carolina games and 50% of big college matchups
MLB - 25% of Reds games and the playoffs
NHL 40 - 50% of bluejacket games until they are eliminated and then usually most of the playoffs
Soccer - 1-2 games a week will be much more this summer for the World Cup where I will watch as many as possible
NBA - a few regular season games then most of the playoffs
UFC - almost 100% of their live events but I'm not getting their UFC network so I will start missing those cards. I do watch almost every fight though through Facebook prelims prelims and the ppv also watch WSOF and Bellator -

MulvaNCAAB - as much as I can
NFL - Thursday night, browns, Monday night. Sunday round 2 and Sunday night depend on the game.
NCAAF - as much as I can early in the season. By the end OSU and big match ups. Hardly watched any bowls this year, which was a first for me
NBA - most of the cavs and the playoffs. I care as much about the nba regular season as nba players do.
NHL - playoffs
MLB - I flip around during the playoffs. Way too slow and boring to consistently hold my interest at this point -
Commander of AwesomeWell this year has been an anomaly for me.
NFL: Browns only. Haven't given a fuck about any other team. I'm growing jaded with the bs QQB rules, high flying offenses TERRIBLE refs and jerking off to teams with elilte QBs.
NCAAF: OSU and teams that I want to watch the prospects of.
NBA: Used to be my #1 most watched sport, but this yr, by the time I get home, exercise, cook and shower the games are all over. I've watched less than 20 games this season which I hope to change. One disadvantage to living and working late on the west coast.
MLB: lol none. Fuck MLB until they make it a more fair sport for all teams. I watched maybe 12 tribe games and ZERO other team games. Just DGAF
NCAAB: OSU only -
HereticIn no particular order with this disclaimer: when with friends, it's sports-watching and beer; at home, it's sports-watching along with either playing video games or working out or surfing the net. It's rare that I pay full 100% attention to a game, but something is generally on whenever possible.
NFL: Pretty much all the time, except for Thursday night (have to go to a friend's to get NFL Network). Other than that, though, if I'm not watching a game, it's because I'm either driving somewhere or I have to get cleaned up to go out somewhere while the game is on.
MLB: Game will be on most nights, at least if it's a local team. I tend to never watch national broadcasts unless it's the playoffs because Pirates are blacked out here and I don't give a fuck about the Yankees/Red Sox/Dodgers and whatever other two teams are lucky enough to get 95% of ESPN airtime.
NCAAB: All the damn time! That usually takes precedence over anything else, particularly watch Big 10 (and MAC if it's on), but will watch about any game on nationally.
NCAAF: Decent amount. OSU and OU games nearly all the time and a lot of other games too.
NHL: Penguins when on national TV when possible; Blue Jackets if nothing else is on; playoffs religiously since NHL delivers the best playoffs outside the NCAAB tournament.
NBA: Generally background noise/visuals when other stuff isn't there. Particularly for the Cavs for the sole reason that Austin Carr entertains the hell out of me.
Tennis: Australian Open is coming up soon. I tend to watch that late at night for the sole reason of looking for Euro-hotties.
Golf: Uh...sometimes when I visit my mom, she's watching that, so yeah.
Auto Racing: Other than the local race track where I go to get drunk with friends and occasionally pay attention to what's on the track, the Indy 500 is the only race I make a point to see. And to a lesser degree, the Daytona 500 for Nasbilly, although that's more because I have friends who party for that and, you know, excuse to get drunj and all.
Other: Uh, couple times friends and I have watched Big 10 women's college volleyball, but that's more for a "spandex asses" thing than a "watch athletes compete in sport" thing. -
Ironman92I had no idea the participation this would get....figured I'd type too much and everyone would cram in their's.
What makes mine even more ridiculous is that between my 2 kids each playing 2 sports, coaching at my school, recreation director of baseball/softball, attend most home high school football, basketball and girl's basketball as well.....mixed in with elementary phys ed all day lol.....sadly it's really about all I do, but I do love it. -
Ironman92Would like to hear S&L's and mhs95

I do agree with you the rules in the NFL are a joke. I think MLB has gotten better as there's so much money to spend now there's a ton of good teams. But yeah something should be done as far as a floor goes, it's BS that Dolan can choose to spend half of what the Tigers do, and at the same time the Dodgers and Yankees spend $220 MillionCommander of Awesome;1565069 wrote:Well this year has been an anomaly for me.

IliketurtlesNFL- Every game available. Thinking about buying the All 22 package next year to really get to watch all the games.
College Football/Basketball- Watch whenever its on. Love college.
NHL/NBA/MLB- Don't watch too much anymore mostly just when there is nothing else on or if its a big matchup. Always will watch the playoffs though.
Tennis/Golf- Majors for sure, and for Tennis sometimes other tournments in the morning when nothing else is on.
NASCAR- Normally will watch a little bit of some races.
Soccer- I'll watch whenever its on especially on Saturday mornings since I don't sleep in.
Like heteric said from time to time I'll watch a womens volleyball match but it's not to watch the actual sport just to watch the asses.
