  I hope things get better, it's this area's closest major city and life blood, plus maybe where I work shortly. I think by 2020 the downtown area will be incredible and almost completely transformed, the new $550M arena district on the other side of Woodward is going to really change things as it will incorporate a lot of new business as well. With Midtown growing exponentially the city is on the rebound in a major way, and thankfully it'll be more growth in something that isn't automotive

  A woman that used to work with my girlfriend used to drive up to Detroit to get her hair "weaved." Prior to this trip she drank heavily and ducked down in the seat when going through Detroit in hopes of not getting shot at.

  Not sure if it's changed but I think a few years back that $1 would buy a block of 100, or so, houses in Detroit. If that area ever bounced back, one could cash in on that kind of real estate if they bulldozed all of that crap down.
