No because it was the right call. It was a hit to the head/neck area on a defenseless receiver. That's the textbook definition of that penalty.

I just continue to not understand the rule. Solomon kept mentioning the shoulder area being off limits?

When the helmet went flying you figure it was helmet to helmet.....I didn't see that on the replay. I don't agree or disagree with the call because I just don't know the rule that comes into play about 2 times a game.

I guess they want the safety on that play to fly in and use his hands to give him a push out of bounds or down because that play is so dangerous.

Hopefully he doesn't have a concussion.

    It was shoulder to chest.

I don't think anyone understands the rule. If you hit a guy and give him a booboo...flag....it's a joke

    Mike Pereira ‏@MikePereira 8m In CLE, that's a close high hit -- but it's not a foul

I get the defenseless part (he was 100% defenseless).....but I've seen that exact play called 10x one way and 10x the other. If the NFL is serious then they can't allow the safety coming in to strike him with his shoulder or head. Virtually any push with his arms with the receiver in a defenseless position and the receiver is going down, but it won't jar the ball free....but if shooting for safety then that doesn't matter.

I replayed and slowed it down numerous times....the contact was high (lower-mid shoulder), but Gordon was elevated in the air, his butt hit the ground and the landing whipped his helmet off right before it hit the ground and Gordon's head never actually hit the ground...but did strike the inner part of the helmet as the helmet slightly ricochet off the ground.

It's gotten to the point where anytime Weeden doesnt give the ball up I view it as a positive play.

and that is the problem. The officials on the field have a split second decision to make. I get frustrated as well at many of the calls. There are times when a play happens that i looks like it is an illegal hit and a penalty, but only to see the replay and it isnt. Then there are times like the steelers hit on Campbell in the face that at the time of the play didnt seem bad but when ya see the replay he hit the guy in the face.

Our D hasn’t given up much this game and we are still going to lose. I have never seen an offense single handedly just give games away as much as this team.
