When is leading the league in passing yards bad?

  • september63
Week 17.......Charlie Frye leads the league with 26-45 333 yards. (3 Int's and 0 TD's Passer Rating 53). In this era of fantasy stats do we put to much weight in statistics, as opposed to just winning?

The only good thing there is the yards. 0 TD's and 4 INT's is awful and negates the yardage. That's a bad fantasy stat line.

    Two things:

    1. 333 yards is nice but it more than negated by the 3 INTs considering the yards led to 0 TDs.
    2. He didn't lead them to a win so I don't see the point of the thread.

    Three things, actually.

    3. Week 16.

    Just sayin'. :)

Right, I agree to an extent. But I think this was a terrible example. Charlie threw for a lot of yards but he didn't win the game and no one claimed it to be a good game stats-wise. Unless there is a scoring bonus for over 300 yards passing his fantasy line would be pretty bad as well.

Well stats usually turn to points, and points usually turn out to wins, so I'd say people don't put too much stock into stats.

The stats you posted of Frye aren't good stats...at all. So don't use that as an example of why people put too much stock into stats.

All I basically was saying is how often does a QB lead the league in passing yards for a week and end up with stats as bad as Charlie Frye's?

Because of the INTs, his QB rating was less than Anderson's for the game.

    That's not good.
