pkebkerHolmgren has had repeated success in the NFL. He has resurrected to struggling teams prior to this team. Simply by looking at his past, you could realistically believe he could turn Cleveland into a winner.
Holmgren has won with every team he has run/coached...Sounds to me like Capone is nervous... -

As strictly a Head Coach, yes, but when he was GM/Coach in Seattle he struggled BIGTIME. He has never been just director of Football operations so their is NO history of what will happen.
Browns fans have to remember he is NOT going to be the Head Coach.
I wish he was instead of his current role. -

For those thinking there are a bunch of "egomaniacs" clashing in Cleveland, I would first say: Randy Lerner is FAR from an egomaniac. By all accounts, he's a quiet, self-deprecating man who has no problem giving control over to others he thinks might make things better (Butch Davis, Phil Savage and Mangini all come to mind right away).
Mangini has an option here: get along or get going. Which do you think he's going to choose, given his ego and need to be successful to feed that ego?
Holmgren did not fare well when he was trying to all the jobs (coaching and GM) in Seattle. However, he was never allowed to be only a personnel guy as opposed to the coach. So we don't know how well he may or may not do in this job.
We do know that where ever he's been, HE HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL to the point that his teams made it to the Super Bowl, winning one and losing another because the refs felt the Steelers needed to win that day.
So to claim that there is a "train wreck" headed to Cleveland shows only that the original poster has no knowledge of history or insight into human nature.
Besides, even IF Mangini decides he wants to assert himself and create a power struggle, it's only going to last as long as it takes Holmgren to utter the words: you're fired. After all, Lerner has made it abundantly clear he is the man in charge. -
