    Just started.

    Latos vs Greinke.
    Bailey vs Kershaw.

This is what we will get in the playoffs. Just like last week vs STL. C'mon boys, step it up!

Doesn't look like Latos has "it" today!

LOL @ Izturis not getting to 3rd on a slow roller to RF by Votto.
  • se-alum
RBI's by Bruce and Ludwick, then a boneheaded baserunning screw up by Bruce.

Overly concerned about the cannon in RF, but then Bruce makes a bad move and gets thrown out on the bases, taking a lot of air out of the string of 4 straight one out hits, and the Reds get just 2, but take the lead. We'll see if Latos can be good from here.

After throwing all 95+ fastballs and 80 mph 12/6 curveballs the first 6 pitches to Puig, Latos throws the first slider(87mph) right on the bare outside edge, but about 8" above the knees, and Puig hooks it out to left for a 3-2 Dodger lead. Even with the HBP in the first, Puig was not set-up to be gotten out on that pitch.

Crawford pulls a Votto and runs the Dodgers out of the inning.

Yeah...dumb for sure. Greinke is a good athlete and there were 2 outs but a line drive 1 hopper to a charging Bruce??? That's a play at the plate with Crawford trying to score...let alone the pitcher

Pretty even starting pitching match-up. Both pitchers throw 106, with Latos going 7 innings to Greinke's 6, but 3 runs to 2.

Izturis doing well filling in for the ailing BP. Things have changed since Monday when the opponents challenged Votto and pitched around Bruce!

Can anyone answer why, with an entire pen rested, a series vs the Cubs, Brewers, Mets and Astros coming up...Zach Duke is coming in, in that situation?

    Obviously Mike Leake's fault.

Dusty wanted a left hander for lead-off batter Ethier and Chapman is not going to pitch today after four in a row, especially with it a non save situation so far. He may want to save Parra for later in the game, or Parra is not feeling as good as Duke, or both.

Bunting with Choo to allow Izturits hit???
  • Azubuike24
I understand Dusty's logic. However, Duke is a career .280 BAA vs lefties. He isn't a MLB caliber pitcher anymore. He's not a lefty specialist. He's only on the team because the Reds pitching depth is one of the worst in MLB. Yet, he comes in during a critical situation and justifiably so because his throwing arm is LEFT?

Lefty/righty deal and Izturis with 3 hits and a loss avoiding RBI so far.

Don't they always say that mediocre lefties can make a good living in MLB?

Each team made a base-running boner early in innings that had a chance to be big and they both ended up scoring no more runs in those innings and for at least 5 innings thereafter. Nothing like bad base-running to throw a wet blanket over your offense!

Billy has made all 3 of his appearances running for Ludwick!
