Azubuike24Walt asleep at the wheel again:
"Dodgers acquired 3B Michael Young from the Phillies, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
Young isn't much of an upgrade over Juan Uribe but will likely get the bulk of the playing time at third base for the Dodgers down the stretch. He had to waive his no-trade clause to make the deal. The 36-year-old is hitting .276/.336/.395 this year."
Meanwhile, our 3B has a .698 OPS...
Again, even if you don't get him, DON'T LET YOUR COMPETITION GET STRONGER! -

Worst case scenario you get a great professional that at least provides COMPETITION for Frazier.
He has NO competition, zero threat of losing his job or even playing time and he's hitting a miserable, yet kinda lucky .228
Michael Young, while statistically overrated has been there and done that...and is still hungry.
Oh well. -

What are you talking about, Frazier has the great jack hannahan threatening him for playing time. -
Azubuike24Michael Young had a no-trade clause. He only had 8 teams he would go to. LAD was one. Cincinnati was not. Therefore, there was zero chance, even with a claim, he goes to Cincy. Aside from the fact that the Reds could actually use him, claiming him would have been basically a block to allow another contender to get him. It's the same with Marlon Byrd, except there was not a no-trade clause, but was also very little financial risk (Byrd is owed about 150K the rest of the year).
Somehow, despite LF and 3B being 2 black holes for the Reds all year, 2 viable players pass through waivers, the Reds don't claim either (with no risk in doing so) and both end up going to one of 4 other "contenders" in the NL.
It's almost like Walt either was asleep the whole time, or purposely did not make a claim hoping in the future if he really needed a claim made, nobody would step on his toes either. -
se-alumVotto with a Little League baserunning mistake. Good lord.

mhs95_06In 3 of the first 5 innings Reds had a runner on 2B with no out, and none of those times did the Reds score him, or any runner from that point in the inning on.

mhs95_06On the stolen base attempt, Hannahan sweeps the tag between the sliding foot that was 8" away from hitting the bag and the bag. Ump says safe, I think precisely because he did not touch the foot on the sweep tag. Meso robbed, by Hannahan, of another chink up in his % out stealing.

Azubuike24Sigh. I mean, this game has been pretty frustrating, but Leake allowed a runner seemingly every inning, sometimes 2. Only so many times you can get long fly outs and DP's to bail you out.
Another series with Leake and Arroyo...
Frustrating to lose 2 of 3, when the STL/PIT series went exactly how we wanted. -

Cozart goes the other way and gets one in to break the string in the 8th, and now the Reds are 1 for 5 in scoring a runner from 2nd after he was there with no outs..mhs95_06;1494322 wrote:Now make it 4 of 6! -

Ironman92Joey Votto....
He is the worst base running superstar I can remember and his defense has been more Ryan Howard than GG
Striking out WAY too much. His power/slugging numbers are also down.
I believe he needs 2 scheduled days off from June-Sept, especially without having an AS break. His OB% is elite....no other part of his game is -
