I don't know about that, the way Dusty does strategy lends itself to extra inning games and then a shortage of pitchers, which he then bemoans when it was his own strategy that was a big cause of it!Ironman92;1488918 wrote:I would've had Hamilton on the playoff roster last year.
More than 10 pitchers is unnecessary. -

I went back to many 7 game series and the few that made it to using 11 pitchers typically were about 1 inn and 3 ER per series -
Azubuike24Cards down 5-4 in the 8th. The Brewers put a 3 spot on the Cards pen in the bottom of 7.
Padres/Pirates tied at 0, bottom 3 out west. -
SportsAndLadyHell of a double play in the 9th...that was just awesome, and clutch.
Only way they'll win in the playoffs is with great defense and timely hitting. Don't think the hitting will be there, but they'll flash some leather, for sure. -
Azubuike24Fucking Brewers. After a single and a DP, 4 straight 2-out singles for the Cards and they lead 6-5.
-
SportsAndLadySeptember 8, Sunday night game against the Dodgers...thatll be great
-
mhs95_06In the 4th in SD, Denorfia makes an error in RF that does not cost any outs, but gives the Pirates 5 bases and 2 runs to spot Pitt a 2-0 lead.

Azubuike245 straight 2-out hits gives the Cards a four spot. 8-5 STL, now bottom 8.

Is there any viable stats that say Hamilton can produce on a higher level than Robinson? I can't wait to see Billy, but if you think there is any way you see him before September 1st, you are just kidding yourself, and I agree with the organization on that. Is .317 really a respectable OBP for a leadoff hitter? That's Hamiltons OBP since May 2nd. C'mon. Billy is a CF'er. We obviously already have a hell of a player in that position.Azubuike24;1488873 wrote:1. Look at his numbers since April? OBP has been respectable.
2. What about Derrick Robinson says he can make an impact in the playoffs? Dusty has already said, there is a playoff spot for D-Rob because of what he brings (which Hamilton brings those skills to a much higher potential).
I'm advocating the Reds come fully loaded with their 25 best weapons. Not hold guys back in roles because it will hinder their development or because they don't have the experience. This isn't T-ball. The playoffs are littered with guys over the years who were forced into action before they were ready or unexpectedly. Many of them rose to the moment and ended up with good careers? Guys much younger and much less seasoned than Cingrani or Hamilton.
Look at Manny Machado last year? Forced to be called up at 19, played 2 months and then was the O's best player to end the year. -
Midstate01Only thing hamilton would contribute right now is pinch running late or coming in to lay down a bunt. Though he is coming around at the plate the last month they said.
But he's not ready and he doesn't have the power or defense to come up and be to the reds what puig is. And I dont think just coming up and stealing bases really makes a HUGE difference. Though it'd sure be nice to see someone running.... -

I don't think anyone is asking Hamilton to come up and be an all star in 40 games like puig (should have been).
But he can be a hell of a lot more productive than Robinson and if that means stealing bases and getting late game at bats than so be it. -
thavoiceI think Hamilton should be on the postseason roster, if the roster is set and he is just needed as a pinch runner. Some earlier were calling for him to come up and start, of which he is not ready yet. In the postseason you go with your best 8. You don't need to rest guys, or give AB's to bench players just to get them some PT. If they feel he can help on the bases, then go for it. Ya would have to pick your spots, mostly late in the game.
