Greatest shortstop in the game or greatest by far?

    Two words..."Moon" and "Pie"
  • Commander of Awesome
Sabathia has been affectionately dubbed "The Fat Man" while Peralta has been given the nicknames "Moon Pie", "Pork Pie" and "I never met a 23 lb honey glazed ham I didn't like" by me.

See where they worked hard on that nickname for CC. How about Rich Rueschell (sp?) from years ago...nicknamed The Human Couch.

I bet he could play for all the Major League teams at once. THAT FUCKING GOOD.

Far and away the best SS of all time. Better fielder than Smith/Vizquel and better hitter than A-Rod in his prime.

I'll answer this seriously because people are clueless of his value to a baseball team. Simply put, Peralta is a bit lacking in range, but what he gets to, he fields cleanly and makes the play. (unlike an Indians shortstop who muffed 2 gimmee DP's in 8 days, costing his team 2 games). He is an above average hitter especially when surrounded by other good hitters (AKA Detroit Tigers). Most importantly, he is out there doing his job everyday....very durable, and doesn't get hurt.(in other words he earns the money paid him because he's on the field, not the DL. Does that make him a great shortstop? Nope... Just a good one.

And more reliable than Cal Ripken Jr

I am poking fun of assumption's suck off fest threads to anything related to the tigers. Also in a way poking fun of classlessposter's 24/7 suck off fest of the tigers.

    What like_that said.

To be fair I don't think hits posts much outside of the Cleveland threads, so he might not have realized the tendencies of those posters.

Have the Tigers even lost this year? I'd heard that Verlander threw a perfect game, striking out all 27 (on 27 pitches, in fact), in every one of his appearances.

    ^^^That's a different thread.
