Corky atones for his awful play at the plate.

That fear should have been gone when they only needed one bullpen pitcher to go 2.1 innings in game 1.

Big hit by Corky for 2 RBI to cut the deficit in half.

I sort of meant before the two games started, I was more concerned about how much of the bullpen they'd use in 18 innings.

But yeah, with Alfredo Sauce Simon going 2.1, they're basically completely fresh to go in this 2nd game.

Still, could care less about this 2nd game's lineup.

This is a failed philosophy, especially if a team ends up missing out on the playoffs by 1 game. Every game should be equally important, and the manager should do his best to put his team in a position for success. In no situation is having Izturis, Hannahan, and Corky Miller starting in the same Major League baseball game ok.

I'm pretty sure Dusty thinks August and September games count as 1.5 in the standings.

I agree with all of this. Especially when you have a guy making his first MLB start of the year. You have to assume that the Giants are going to score runs against him. So you need to put a lineup out there that will score a lot of runs. This lineup ain't it.

I hope they prove me wrong. But I don't think that's going to happen.

Haha, I bet all you Pence fans got a good chuckle there...

He looked extremely goofy on that...

Man, Zito whizzed that fastball by Jay Bruce letter high at 82 MPH
  • Azubuike24
Win or lose, lets all be thankful Barry Zito isn't on the team we root for. The guy is frustrating to no end to watch.

Remember the one game a few years back that went 18 innings where (was it?) Harang pitched 5 innings in extras...and then was shit the rest of the year. That's what I mean. In a back to back, I just want to make sure we get out alive and don't get anyone hurt. If we lose one game, we lose one game.

You don't have to agree with me, but it's certainly not a failed philosophy.

You're comparing a pitcher to everyday players. Nobody wants Cingrani to pitch in this game. It's mind-boggling that you would sit someone who just went 4-4.

The Reds could split, score more runs on the day than they allowed and have it be a complete disappointment.

The Pirates won. The Cards won. You lose to Barry Zito. Not good.

Wrong. It'll be a great day, as long as nobody gets hurt.
  • Azubuike24
Lets just hope Zito stays in a bit longer. Big hit by Toddfather.

Pretty sure Fay say Dusty had both lineups done this morning and was going with them regardless of outcome unless there was an injury
  • Midstate01
This San Fran bullpen is going to be worn out big time

Then Cozart is the first used as a pinch hitter...Hoover immediately out...and Cozart doesn't even swing? Might as well go to sleep now.

Hard to fathom he was 23-5 one year....he and Verlander are the only active pitchers to surpass 22 wins in a season.

Alright so I just got asked this and I guess I didn't have a good answer...

Strike 2 is foul tipped into the mit and its strike 2. 3rd strike is foul tipped into the mit and it's an out. What is the difference?

I tried to answer, but I really didn't know myself....I've just always accepted that was the rule. basically WHY is it the case on the 3rd strike

where is mhs..he's the ultimate analyzer
