Pirates @ Reds Game Three

The real question. Say there are no other SP injuries. Cingrani remains in the pen until September.

Does he all of the sudden move to the rotation when the playoffs start? You have to believe given that he's a lefty, and arguably as effective in the playoffs as Bailey, Arroyo or Leake, does he get the nod in a game 3 or 4?

IMO, he SHOULD if you want to maximize your chances to win a close, low-scoring game.

No. Not after 3 months of being in pen.

The reds have sucked ever since these fucktard pirates hit Phillips 17 times and he had to sit out 4 games. They have done shit since.

There are other places they need to upgrade. Specifically, they NEED another lefty-handed reliever. They NEED another right-handed bat, regardless of what position that is.

Cozart's performance is magnified because his backup is THE WORST player on the team. It would be different if you had 2 average (or slightly below average) SS's to platoon...
I"m talking about Walt making a move..I know our 2B situation is bleak in the minors

    Wonder who is available?

You really hate Leake. He's been our best, most consistent pitcher this year. Right now, he's a lock for a playoff start.

I still have no idea how he's been so good, Lol. He could have a sub 3 ERA this entire year and I will still probably not be a believer as sad as that is.

I don't necessarily HATE Leake, but the bottom line is...the playoff rotation is 4 spots. Cueto and Latos are locks. You basically then have 4 guys for 2 spots. Who do you choose?

Unfortunately, with Dusty choosing, the LEAST DESERVING (Arroyo) is a lock...

...and if the Reds pull out a miracle to win this, the Pirates have to be kicking themselves for these pick-offs.

As we speak, the guy trying to bunt singles to CF...

I don't know who the 4th is..but Cueto, Latos, and Leake are locks.

I guess I just don't trust Leake or Arroyo, head to head, against some of the better #3's and #4's that we might face in the playoffs.

Nationals - Gio Gonzalez, Dan Haren
    Giants - Tim Lincecum
Braves - Mike Minor, Julio Teheran
Pirates - Charlie Morton, Gerritt Cole

Who knows. I guess Arroyo showed tonight he can't do much more than allow 1 over 7 inns. Gotta SCORE!

See, that's interesting you consider Leake.

Bailey was lights out the last 3 months of last year, including the postseason. He also has the 3rd or 4th best arm on the staff.

Arroyo is the veteran, who despite some struggles, will Dusty REALLY demote him?

Of the 3, Leake is performing the best on the year, by far.

Then Cingrani, he's the only lefty and has the highest potential (and has shown some major resolve).

It really is a debate...and one that Dusty isn't going to be able to escape.

    Oh yeah, and Jay Bruce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Midstate01
    Holy shit

Lol I was watching this hockey game and didn't see the HR. My Pirates friend HATES J Bruce and I got a text from him saying "hate him" turned the channel to Bruce rounding the bases

Temporarily saving the thread starter lol

Just prolonging another loss. What are they like 4-9 in extras?

If they don't score in the 10th, probably.

Not sure I would trust Cingrani in the playoffs. He's just too young and inexperienced. He'll be perfect for the 'pen.

It's really a debate between Arroyo vs Homer. I'd be fine w/ Arroyo, as he's the veteran and Homer is so inconsistent.

Or just go 3 man rotation and stick both of them in the bullpen as long relievers.
  • Azubuike24
Chapman might go 1-2-3 throwing more balls than strikes.
  • Azubuike24
God, he made Pedro Alvarez look silly...
  • Azubuike24
The bad news...Hanigan, pinch hitter and Robinson.

Odds of walking off? About .3%
  • Azubuike24
One of Dusty's worst moves ever.

Pinch run your backup catcher for your starting catcher. How does this make any sense? It's not Mesoraco is a sprinter. Couldn't Leake pinch run?
  • SportsAndLady
    Robinson average creepin below .270.

    Choo struggling, too.

I lol'd hard when they said he would pinch run for Hanigan and then looked over to see Mesoraco. That makes a ton of sense.
  • Azubuike24
You would've been better off pinch-hitting Mesoraco for Robinson, and bringing in Lutz in LF. You burn the same players and have a much better shot of scoring a run with Mesoraco batting over Robinson hitting right-handed...
