Tribe @ Tigers (Series Thread)

I did expect it this team is exact same team the last five years play well in april and may and be done in June and July. It's mentality this club will always have. Detroit has money and will always knock us down.

What is Mike Aviles doing at the plate? lol.

On May 20th they were 26-17, 9 games over .500.

3 weeks later on June 8th (if they don't come back today) they will be 30-31.

Have to say I am surprised with Tito running the ship that the annual has happened. I thought it might be different for some reason with him around.

The pitching just isn't there for this team to have sustained success, which is why I think these yearly hot start/ swoon in June type situations keep happening.

Contrary to popular opinion, the Dolan's didn't add payroll this off-season when you zero out the money that came off the books against the new signings.

$77 Million opening day payroll 2013 vs. $78.7 Million opening day 2012.

They are going to have to loosen up the purse strings for some pitching or we are going to keep seeing this happen year in and out.

With the horrible attendence figures Dolan should consider moving this team.

When the Bourn signing was announced, as an outsider who reads a lot on here and in the papers about the Tribe and watches ABAO a lot, I didn't understand why the owners didn't go for pitching instead. I don't remember who was left on the market at the time(Lohse may have all that was available) but I thought they didn't need to upgrade the outfield as much as they needed a pitcher(for the same money).

    Seven in a row? WTF?

I bet we get swept in Texas. Anyone want to take bets?
  • IggyPride00
5.5 games out in the central.

6 games out of the 2nd wild card slot.

They can't afford to let those numbers get too much larger.

The bigger question becomes are they going to be buyers or sellers at the trading deadline?

They'll be out of it by the All-Star break, and that's a fact.

Welp, cant say we didnt all see a sweep coming...

Maybe if we all pretend to see a sweep in our favor next it will come true!!!

    The Dolan's are freaking brilliant.

I hate them, and wish they would sell the team, but what they did for themselves this off-season was tremendous.

By bringing in a name manager and getting Swisher and Bourn, they gave the appearence they were spending and plowing money into the team. They essentially insulated themselfves from fan calls for them to spend more money because everyone thinks they did open up the checkbook.

As I said above they are actually spending less than they were, and don't have to deal with public calls to bring in talent.

How they managed to thread that needle is freaking amazing to me as they get to still be penny pinchers while much of this fan base thinks they finally put some money into the team.
